Thank you for posting this. It does seem that manipulating prices is only way to get good AI purchasing. It has limits as I can't see how you can get AI to build an airforce.

Has anyone figured out/summarized the AI purchasing algorithm? I have had some success manipulating the equipment file to alter AI purchases to make the game harder and more realistic (ie making t34s the cheapest Russian tank often results in fun T34 counterattacks rather than useless light tanks). ...
