:cool I am a big metal fan. But unfortunately I have to admit that I don't know the participating musicians / bands. MOONSPELL is the only band from Portugal that I know and have seen in several concerts :o .[/quote]
They are Portuguese by birth, but, for practical purposes they seem much more a German band to me. I mean, MOONSPELL.

About the Portuguese metal scene, being an almost completely unknown world to me, I launched a search and found reference to a documentary.
Here's a link to a 15 minute excerpt (think its about 1 + 1/2 h for the complete / commercial version).
No music in the excerpt, its composed of musician testimonies, but they're identified by their participation in bands/projects, so you may dig for info/music if you can find the time.
English subtitles are available.

@ Bombast
Thank you so much! I will look at it when the opportunity arises.
There is also a well-known website - an encyclopedia of every kind of metal music - on which bands can be sorted according to their country of origin. There are more than 1370 entries for Portugal. However, I suspect that most bands have only local meaning. There are also some bands from Setúbal listed.
https://www.metal-archives.com/lists/PT

I even found another band in the list that I know but didn't remember that they came from Portugal: HEAVENWOOD - "Morning Glory Clouds ( In Manus Tuas Domine )

I found the "one man band". Kind regards to Stephen H
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Ol ... 3540364388
The sound is very well described under the YOUTUBE video:
"OLD WITCH is crushing and atmospheric doom metal shrouded by a dark veil of early 90s black metal feeling.
The music of dead oak forests, the sound of chilling ghostly nights,
Canadian OLD WITCH makes sublime ethereal art, but bringing the massive sound, making them a strange beast in the current underground."

This music was very popular in Europe in the early 90s, especially in Norway.
For me personally the sound was too thin, no bass. I couldn't make friends with it. I liked only a few exceptions: DIMMU BORGIR - For All Tid (Full Album 1995)
Later the music developed and became more orchestral and bombastic. Black metal fans of the first hour hate this development and scream betrayal, but that's exactly this music what I like: Dimmu Borgir & Orchestra Live at Wacken Open Air 2012 Full Show

For the most part (*) i couldn't get warm with Black/Death/Thrash Metal - often times kinda scary how serious (? no, not "serious", but for a lack of a more fitting word) the bands and fans are. Anyway, since we are at metal...

Manowar
Metal Warriors
The Gods made Heavy Metal

Angra
Carry on
Mystery Machine

(*) Equilibrium is one of the few exceptions
Renegades
Rise Again (live cut from 2016 tours)

Bands that i remember listening to back in the day:

Children of Bodom - Deadnight Warrior
In Flames - Bullet Ride
Sepultura - Roots Bloody Roots
Anthrax - What Doesn’t Die

There was probably some Dimmu Borgir, Finntroll, Cradle of Filth, Testament, Kreator, Slayer and Soulfly (and several i forgot) mixed in - but the above are/were the bands i listened to the most.
Out of those, In Flames and Anthrax (and the mentioned Equilibrium) are sometimes still played :evil

:howdy , nice to see you again.

I just remembered a band I loved to hear in the early 90s. Believed that they disbanded in 2001, but they are still active.

There shouldn't be much dispute that "Radioaktivität" stands as "Kraftwerk" 's most iconic theme/album.
(It was right from its debut, and, sadly, it gained a new relevance and meaning after Tchernobyl)
That said, its a lost battle, for those that have listened to their discography, selecting just one example to summarize the whole thing.
But you've already threw in a pair of albums (including one my most favourites, "Kometenmelodie".
I'll just add, also from the days before radio activity, "Klingklang", a long one featuring Florian's flute.

:howdy Urica,

an interesting cross-section of Spanish music. After all, I know two bands.
Barón Rojo was played in East German radio broadcasts in the early 80s. Back then there were special programs dealing with hard rock. Unfortunately, I can't remember any of your titles - it was almost forty years ago.
Héroes del Silencio are known in Germany. It is also the time of MTV and the new medium of music video. For me it was the best and probably the best known title from them: Entre dos tierras

And there is another Spanish band that I know: Mägo de Oz

an interesting cross-section of Spanish music. After all, I know two bands.
Barón Rojo was played in East German radio broadcasts in the early 80s. Back then there were special programs dealing with hard rock. Unfortunately, I can't remember any of your titles - it was almost forty years ago.
Barón Rojo had a lot of hits in the 80s. It was one of the first Spanish metal bands and, along with Obús, the most successful. There were others, like Leño, Los Suaves or Medina Azahara, but Barón Rojo was always number one. These were some of their fisrs hits:

Hijos de Caín
Casi me mato
Los rockeros van al infierno (Metallica did a cover in one of their concerts in Madrid. Not a very good cover, but still a nice gift to the public)
Cuerdas de acero
Parabellum wrote:Héroes del Silencio are known in Germany. It is also the time of MTV and the new medium of music video. For me it was the best and probably the best known title from them: Entre dos tierras
HS is my favourite Spanish band. Probably because I was a teenager during their golden years, and it was impossible not listening to them when I went out with friends. Sadly, my wife hates them with a passion, so I don't replay their old songs very often. If I had to choose a couple of their songs, they'd probably be Flor venenosa or La sirena varada.
Parabellum wrote:And there is another Spanish band that I know: Mägo de Oz
It's true, I had forgotten about them! My cousins loved that band. I must confess that I was never a big fan of Mägo de Oz. I thought that they were too similar to Ñu, another ancient band, and I chose to listen to those ones instead. I can't explain why.

Ñu - Más duro que nunca.

A few days ago there was a nice documentary about the Texans from ZZ Top on ARTE-TV. A very remarkable band history - over 50 years in unchanged line-up (world record). They celebrated their golden wedding in 2019 :winkgrin . The documentation is still available on the ARTE-TV homepage until 09/09/2020: ZZ Top: That Little Ol’ Band from Texas

And here is a full concert from 2007: ZZ Top - Live from Texas

Wasserschloss Klaffenbach - Nice place, is almost on my doorstep and we visit it occasionally by bike. Well suited for concerts from the Gothic / Medieval period. Heard Apocalyptica and In Extremo here.

Apoptygma Berzerk - I lost my way to a concert at the Auensee / Leipzig house about 20 years ago. There they were headlining. But I was there for the support bands because I knew them :lol .

ASP and VNV Nation are occasionally guests at the Darkstorm Festival in Chemnitz

Hi Para :howdy

Although i visited some bigger events, i generally don't like to go out on concerts: too many people :scared
Especially during the past 15 years i rather went to smaller events (like the small concert hall "MUK" in my town with 1.000-3.000 visitors max) and private parties where i know the people already for many years.

Parties are also where i still get in touch (can you touch sounds :fused ) with Dark Wave - otherwise i'm usually more into Metal and Rock :)
