it is touching when you see people half my age leaving some messages and saying goodbye. i'm older but haven't seen him much in football action, ironical and funny part my best memory is 1990 WC game against our team and not good play and missed penalty, but they advanced :)

small man but probably one of the biggest in sport, right to mention by two of you. And because i have watched him live after all, rip Maradona :yes

My fist memory of him is the 1982 World Cup but he didn't play very good then, too young, too eager. But later that year he came with Barcelona to play Red Star Belgrade in the Euro cup and created one of the most amazing scenes i ever seen in football - he took the ball at the centre field and dribbled past the entire Red Star defense, ran through to the goalie and scored with a fantastic lob shot. In the moment the entire 100,000 strong crowd went silent, literally not a sound could be heard, then 1-2 seconds later everyone stood up and clapped. Very few players in the history of the game can claim they've received a standing ovation from the opposition supporters. Then of course the 1986 World Cup - the best World Cup ever if you ask me - which he won, managing to create The Goal of the Century and the Hand of God Goal in a single game. In 1990 (last "real" World Cup, after that something had changed and it never again felt the same to me) he reached the finals again but was denied, Germany taking revenge for the 1986 defeat...

well, lets add after all...no, not that - even in 1990 i was still too young to get it fully. but Radoye is old man...... :)

however, without mentioning Napoli in Maradona's short bio, it is incomplete so few lines.... Napoli (the city) made him and ruined him in a way. Very complex subject and must say, though not sport topic itself, most interesting subject of all in relation to him.... you know the story, you underdstand how and why he underperformed in 1990, beside age... one (more jokingly) aspect (or "conspiracy theory") how he almost intentionaly tried to miss twice, unconciously ;)

probably remember Luigi (our old member, not some Camorra member)) and "Napoli is not Italy" phrase he used a lot, well other people maybe do not know it is Maradona's... just to add all to your words - never heard about Red/Dead star and game btw :lol - but i guess world had enough of Maradona (the name) in this few days so I'll end here... great player :yes and it adds to fame and myth to his name, if younger people do not get it

These goals from Porto? (first one of first match and the lone one of second)
Shall we call it an emerging pattern?
Sheer lack of imagination?
Or just coincidence?

https://www.record.pt/multimedia/videos ... o-encontro
Fabril (Barreiro) 0 V Porto 2 (for the Cup) 21 November 2020

Santa Clara (Azores) 0 V Porto 1 (1st League) 28 November 2020

Will they do it again next match?...

hello Hoza, just for the record i'm not sure we speak about same person, but probably :dunno i was on/off often anyway, so can't say i'm aware of all the details... This Luigi was very active around 2004/05 and similar and i didn't see him much later as he grew up. this is just serious and precautionary post, not to mix some persons but again probably, yes :)

A-ha! he then disappeared after mentioning Erdogan's phonecall, Obama and Russia - sorted out :) didn't even think about consequences of me talking in public about Conte calling before Scotland match, Antonio "Brutus" Conte not Italian PM.... btw, if there were no "banana icons" in that text, it was not "my" Luigi :)

seriously though, my mention wasn't that much about Luigi, his posts, his whereabouts etc. and had no idea about him playing on your forums - just mentioned him because of Napoli aka Naples (not Italy) line and Maradona. There are so many good jokes (sometimes not so PC for all) about Naples in specific and Italy in general... Vesuvian jokes are solid like "Napoli is so beautiful, too bad Vesuvius is so far to reach" :) etc. however it is one of my fav countries and I warned mentioned population numerous times of dangers of being between Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei..... btw, mafia is not only Italian problem, it exists in many places - America, Albania.... to start with A :lol Luigi (there are many in Italy) welcome

back to sport, nothing happens except what they are doing to multiple waterpolo, basketball and almost football (1966, still remember)) continental champion is criminal :)

big "talking point" today in world of football and here, for somehow different reasons i put in the end.... i don't know nor care that much - there will be investigation and all, all i know that Romanian term for black man is "om negru" and person was talking to another Romanian, not some folks from Texas or Alabama ;) if there is misuse of rules and discrimination, punishment of course, as simple. Generally subject is misused as term, saying as our clubs were punished several times for "racism" however there was no objection by opposing black players, but there was "objection" by Turkish press in one unimportant club game... even more recently in our NL group there was objection by Russians over Polish referee, so officials are under pressure constantly - we showed what is fair play in result way in that group :) however this case involved black persons, indeed...

so these are different reasons i mentioned and is widespread suspicion that game, postponed for this evening, by most people liking sport here have some cloud over it and that it "won't finish with result mostly expected".... so yes, PSG players should prove all wrong and follow fair play, fight for results integrity of the sport and beat them, go PSG. if however doubters in result be correct (maybe) I just say go Lille, Lion and whoever except PSG :)

"all i know that Romanian term for black man is "om negru" and person was talking to another Romanian, not some folks from Texas or Alabama ;)"
If that means that he only wanted to inform the chief referee which person had to be penalized this is again proof how media overexaggerate things. Or does anyone think the 4. referee knew at this moment the name of the turkish assistant coach. Political correctness is one of the most misused notions of nowadays and misformes our thinking on normal human reactions and life. :uzi :irate :evil :grumpy

although not any memory as player, yeah i've seen him on Italian TV sometimes with Tardelli & co in some their regular f-ball talks (i don't understand)) Usually both would have better words for our players there (if mentioned) then most of us have about them ) ...would never say so, looked healthy, rip.

....unrelated, but just remembered for thread content, a bit funny in unfortunate time regarding Rossi death. Anyhow to say, if some "news" were right at all, head of our mafi... i mean FA recently approached Arsene Wenger for a job of national team coach. Politely rejected with words "not ready in this moment" :lol

there is some clue, in first 30 seconds Wenger talks about proposed Serbia job:

https://youtu.be/X8cxOimgC7I

of course it would be great in sport sense (him on bench, to be clear) but unrealistic and needless althogether... country, age, money and team results aside ) .... btw, he is mentioned from time to time as he is friend with some our ex-players...

Haha, good comparison. But Elton is leaner.
At the moment Clemens vs. Ratajski and it's 3:3 sets. I am curious whether Clemens is good enough for another surprise.

Yeah, Bucs at Packers was a good game. Brady not with his finest day with 3 interceptions, but the packers couldn't capitalize on that. I don't understand why Brady wanted to avoid being sacked at all cost and then throws the ball long only to be intercepted :dunno Bucs defense did a good job though.
Rodgers play was somewhat one-dimensional. He was always looking for his favorite receiver Adams, when others were wide open.
Well, i'd like to see TB & TB12 to win the Super Bowl, that would be a story for the ages. Poor Patriots...
I am sure Mahomes and the Chiefs will win a bunch of Super Bowls in the future (EDIT: adding to the one they won last season) but not this year :nyet :lol :ihope

Let's wait and see. I see the chances 49:51 for Mahomes and the Chiefs. The question for me is, can Brady use the home advantage?

There is a saying, "offense wins games but defense wins championships", so i hope the Bucs defense will do a good job again, like they did all season.
But yeah, Mahomes is probably the best QB right now and in the next 15 years i can see him winning a hand full of Super Bowls.
But i root for the Bucs this time :bullhorn :cheer :cheer That would be a story for the ages!

Yeah Baby, Yeah Baby, Yeah :cheer It's halftime and TB leads with 21:6 :cheer
Every time i see Gronkowski running it looks like slowmotion, but still he can make 2 touchdowns :cool
KC with much too much penalties.

EDIT: So Bucs win the Super Bowl :banana Brady proves he is the GOAT.
Kansas City high scoring offense didn't even made a touchdown. But they will learn from this and come back stronger.

...
:yes You're right.
i recorded the game at a hard disk and saw it on monday evening. So i was able to skip all the advertising and only had to invest around 3 hours.

I was expecting an even game with more excitement. That's why I'm disappointed with the game. The Chiefs' defensive was still good in the first quarter, but then fell sharply. Also too many mistakes / fouls in the first half with the Chiefs. The bucs played at a consistently high level and deservedly won.

I read something interesting in an other forum: The Chiefs, due to Mahomes' high salary and the cap, will have a hard time to contract good players, so they should better enjoy what they have reached in the last years because it will be very hard to stay at the top.
We'll see next season. In one way it is good that we have to wait half a year for the next season to get going. There will be no overkill like with other sports :lol

I'll now shift my attention to the remainder of the winter sports season and then to cycling.

:lol

just watched rare football game lately, WC qualifier Serbia-Portugal and it delivered "scandal" hence first class fun... :) in added time, 92-93 min already, first red card for our player and then fast after Ronaldo scores - ball at least 20 cm in goal before defender clears it - Dutch referees say no goal and then protesting Ronaldo gets yellow and walks off the pitch before end, talking curses angry :)

I wanted to see some good match (it ended 2:2) and got extra time extras... no doubt Portugal will place first in group and go directly to WC, as they deserve by names but this was exceptional so i commented ;

I turned in after Mount Kemmel when everything was pretty much done and dusted. Van Aert then wins the sprint easily. MVDP was not on the start line though. He will race Dwars door Vlaanderen on wednesday. Meeting of the giants on sunday at De Ronde.
Now waiting for the coverage of the women's Gent-Wevelgem to start. Go Vos :yes ...and Fahlin!

EDIT: BTW, start of Gent-Wevelgem in Ypres today. They start with a salute to the fallen ones and pass many WWI monuments en route.
EDIT2: Vos wins, Fahlin 6th :deal

I just read in a cycling forum and it is very fitting:
Dutch Beer Race
on Sunday this week. And it's true, when we visited Valkenburg for Amstel Gold Race they were handing out little main sponsor beer cans to the spectators :lol :cheers Alcohol free though.
