1 Operation Gauntlet ltbv

For me, this campaign is characterized by uninformative briefings. In many scenarios the tasks are not clearly described, I wandered around on the maps and couldn't find the hidden VH's.
Even though I finished the first scenario with a BV, it was tricky.
Evacuating the Soviet civilians was an easy task, but the game wasn't over after that.
The whole time I saw the Norwegian VH's as allies to be protected against the Germans - a mistake (they have to be conquered), and so I started half a dozen times because there is only one way to the western VH. Its defender must be eliminated from my ships and aircraft so that an INF can climb out of the NT into the VH in the last turn.

No VH - instead "Find the transmitter and destroy it, along with ALL the Axis fighters and bombers."

Only 3 units can be used. They are mercilessly decimated by the enemy bombers, regardless of whether they drive across the island or around the island in the NT. It takes me several tries again, but I'm still having fun ...

Operation Jubilee - a success is not planned. I improved the INF and bought an ATY. The only goal: to gain experience and a bit of prestige. All units get stuck on the beach and are damaged or destroyed. Later an escape hex is unlocked in the english canal and an aux unit (ship) can end the scenario.

I did not receive any orders and my units were wandering around the map :hmm . I conquered the south-western VH but the last one remained hidden. It is likely to be found on any of the three bridges, of which I only reached one :noway .

I bought a tank. New units have 22 exp. I changed an INF and experimented with new ATY. In the end, 5/8 units only had 2 or less strength :beaten

5 Operation Husky ltv

"... Your planned landing zone is in the Southern tip area of Sicily, between Pachino and it's airfield. From there you will move Northwest along National Road 124, while the British 8th Army will take Siracusa, and then move North from there."

Invasion of Sicily - I restarted several times and was amazed at the targeted attacks by the German air force. My damaged fighters were followed to the edge of the map and destroyed. After the umpteenth attempt, I found that the Germans have a radar bunker with visibility 20 and can see my every movement. The radar bunker is in the middle of the mountains and to destroy it I would have needed a mountain unit. But I had no prestige for that. A guard and the useless AT went into the mountains and it took an eternity until the radar was destroyed. Then I was safer.
Before the British 8th Army lands, important units are damaged or destroyed by coastal batteries and the subsequent capture of Syracus claims further casualties. After that she is no longer able to successfully march north to conquer Augusta and Lentini. Further reinforcements arrive north of Augusta. But they are too weak to conquer the two northern VHs alone. In addition, they have no protection against the German air force.
I then made a new plan and let the 8th British Army sail northwards in a wide arc across the Mttelmeer in order to connect with the aux units there. This took many turns, but was successful.
The march was difficult in the south and I had to repair my units several times. A :tiger was amused over my Sherman and decimated it to 1 strength.

I have too few ground units for this task. I have to split them up to capture two VH's in different directions. And there is (as in most of the scenarios in this campaign) no own SH. The only way to improve my situation was to buy a bomber. But the enemy had AD and made the bomber ineffective.

11 The Rhineland bv+1

"... Today you will be commanding the largest formation a Canadian officer has ever commanded in combat so far. Your mission is to breakthrough the Siegfried Lines and clear the area west of the Rhine river, capturing all key cities and centres of enemy resistance. ..."

Bad weather and ground conditions prevent BV. Reinforcements come from the south-west twice. Without them the conquest of the southern VH (Geldern) would not be possible. In the meantime I had to repair the tanks because the risk of total loss is too great - 8.8 everywhere are waiting for the golden shot.

I liberated the POW, occupied all VH's, but it never came to an end - therefore another loss. Kiss my ass - I'm done :yuck .
