Question about artillery and Support Fire

Is there a reason why in an efile (opencomposite 1.02F) some artillery units have the "NoSupportFire" attribute and others don't?
For example, the 21cm Morser cannon has no support fire, while the 15sFH13 cannon has it.
I would like to know the reason for this choice. Perhaps is it tied to the "Range" of the gun?
Just curious.
Thank you.

No, it's the cadence (rate of fire) of the weapon:

21-cm-Mörser 18 -> 1rpm
15 cm sFH 13 -> 3rpm
10,5-cm-leichte Feldhaubitze 18 -> 6rpm

Actually, only the efile designer, MG43, can answer this question because it can be different for every efile.
As a rule of thump i'd say that, the longer the range, the more the damage, the less ammo, the less rate of fire of a gun, support fire will be less likely.

In the composite efile the 21cm Mörser has a soft attack value of 24. Imagine this gun giving fire support :eek It would be simply impossible to attack against such a gun with infantry [EDIT: not the gun itself but attack enemy units backed by this gun with potential support fire].
Then imagine guns with a range of 8 giving fire support. The area such a gun covers on a map is hugh.

But yeah, at the end it's the efile designer who makes these decisions :yes

well, actually that's the case for cold war efiles. and most of the guns are self propelled with mechanized "q" ability, so artillery class can create a real bloodbath instantly

the counter battery fire can make these scenarios more interesting. helos and spy planes must be used for deep reconing in these scenarios, indeed
