Moving sound (footsteps) volume not working?

Post by none » 2023-03-07 15:09, Tuesday

Not putting this in bugs yet, because I'm not sure yet what is happening. Could be me.

Long story short, I have noticed that whatever the volume setting in "Media Settings"/"Play sounds" ("0" or "Max"), moving sounds always have the same volume. Other sounds do follow their setting.

So, which slider is supposed to affect moving sounds? I tried them all, but moving sounds remain the same volume. :huh

Yes, the third slider from the top does not work (SDL engine) --> you can only turn sounds on or off (button)
We are talking about sounds from the SFX catalog

It is possible to work around the problem
- Open the sound mixer of your audio device
- find SDL Windows (OG game must be running)

Image

- set the slider according to your preferences (replaces the 3rd slider in Media Settings - it will be your base for other sound settings for OG)
- now go to the "Media Settings" window

Image

- adjust - the first two sliders
- adjust the music - the fourth slider from the top

Note that the SDL setting is base --> all other settings depend on it...
