Playtest Trapping and Trapped

This thread is about my new campaign "Trapping and trapped" which I will create in the next month. It is for my converted RSF Efile. There is still much to do. So it will take a long time, since I will publish it.
You can find a scenario list in the german subforum.
The campaign is about pockets (defensive / offensive). It will have some fictional scenarios.
It is the first campaign where I will give the player the units. From scenario to scenario he will get more and more units. But he can get many prototypes, because it is a long campaign and can upgrade his units at his free will. So no run should be the same. Also the player will get some pp for OS and attachements.
The player will get a Stabseinheit in the first scenario. This unit should constitute the player, so he can rename it like him. This unit is a MSU unit (because it represents the player). Unfortunately I forgot to make it MSU, so I have to start the scenario tomorrow again. :bonk

Battle of Warsaw

In the first scenario the player has to take Warsaw which is encircled. The players core units starts in the southwest of the city, joined by a infantry division. In the east is also a infantry division, while in the north a panzer division is attacking.

The polish army is very well entrenched, so I lost many SP through the attacks. In the middle of the city is the highest resistance with one large gun and two combat support units. I attacked from the east eastern Warsaw and from the southwest the western part. In the north the panzer division conquered the two VHs in the north.

Next try, but I`m a little confuse. Shouldn`t be there any sign that the Stabseinheit is MSU? Did I forget something?

You can see it at HQ and when "inspect unit". There is a red bar underneath the exp bars and (MSU) is written in front of the unit's name:Image

I had to restart because I had forgotten to set MSU in the victory conditions. Meanwhile I have played Warschau again and also the 2nd scenario.

Lille Pocket

I think, I will make this a little bit easier. The french army is highly entrenched and the player has no tanks that are good against entrenched infantry.

I got maybe the best bomber as a prototype. In this scenario a Pz III Panzer-Ass with a random leader, a Uhu, Brandenburger and a ground combat Sdkfz 8.8 Flak with Infantry joins the players army.

The player must fullfill the pocket by attacking british army in the west and closing the pocket. For this a aux Panzer Division is in the scenario. There are also two aux infantry divisions to help the player. The player starts in the southeast. I attacked Lille, but it lasted several turns to break through the first line. Some units got badly hit and I had to withdraw them. In the west the 7th Panzer Division managed early to destroy british resistance. They met a little battle group which had captured the airfield, because player has no airfield at the start. These two battle groups met the southern aux infantry division and all met at Lille. Meanwhile I had air superiority and could destroy or weaken some strong french units in the city.

??? There is no information here as to which scenario is to be played next. Would be important if it wasn't a linear campaign path!

The war doesn't just need specialists - where is the perfectly normal infantry? Or are they only available as aux units in every scenario?

There is no information, because I haven`t built the next scenario yet. But at the end there will be definitely this information.
In next scenario (Dunkirk) the player will get 2x Infanterie and more often used units.
But you are right, normal infantrie is the most common aux infantry unit (I think the aux units are very realistic).
But as the first two scenarios are fighting in big cities I thought it would be a good idea to give the player better infantry at the beginning.

So expanding your own core units is only possible with prototypes or by assigning the designer at the beginning of each new scenario, right?

Yes, that is right, but the player have the chance to get many prototypes, because it is a long campaign.

Battle of Dunkirk

New units given the player:

Also I bought two attachements at HQ and give full OS to my both leaders.

This was a hard one and should be. The player starts with his units in the west. The new given units start in the south. At some VHs there was high resistance. Allied troops have only few tanks, but they proved that they have high endurance. Later in the northeast reinforcements arrive the battlefield. They attacked belgium troops at Oostende and other units sneaked at bad weather to the defending artillery in Dunkirk and knocked them out. Together with my core army arriving from the west I could capture Dunkirk in last turn.

After a long break I have restarted campaign making.

Vosges

New units given to the player:
PSW 204 (french captured recon)

After last scenario I got a para pak and upgraded it into a Sdkfz 6/2 with infantry and engineer ability.
This is a very easy scenario. There are only 30 opponents, nearly all US and mostly without a exp bar. Just pushed forward. There were no real resistance. A short intermezzo after two more heavy and long scenarios.

The way to the Bialystok Pocket

The player starts at the Brest Fortress and has to conquer the city and the "Panzerrollbahn". This was the route of the southern Panzergruppe which closed Bialystok and Minsk Pocket.

New units given to the player:
1x Sdkfz 6/2
1x PSW 231
1x JU 87B

This was harder than I thought. :phew
At HQ i upgradeded both Pz II into Pz III. Brest is highly fortified. The player has a aux infantry division to clear the city. But it needs some help from the core troops. I used a little BG with a Pz III to drive into the rear of the city, weaken the big flak and bombed with my planes. A small BG captured the southern VH. The main BG with Captn. Raydar moved to the east. On the way I had to clear the forest on the right side of the central VH. There are a lot of entrechned infantry and other stuff. Captn. Rayydar moved on, overrunning several barrieres while my infantry cleared the central VH and the forest. I lost a lot of SP through this battle. Earlier I had already refitted some units which battled at Brest. In the end Capotn. Rayydar overrunned the mechanic division which secure the eastern VH.

There are some bugs (or better mistakes) in my converted efile and I have to look at this first before starting with the next scenario Uman Pocket.

Also it is allowed to buy one unit from the aux country hungary. I decided to buy a level-bomber, because there are only a few in the RSF.+

The player can mostly deploy his troops in the north and north-east. Also there are two DH in the west. I rushed forward through the north, collecting all VHs in the east and overrunning two soviet mechanic corps. In the west i started quickly fighting and allowed most units not to try a retreat at some cost of aux units. In the south the hungarian mechanic division rushed to the EH in the south and there built a defensive formation. At this point there some fighting, because some soviet units (and also tanks) arrived this defensive formation. Got a flak leader through support fire. :cool
