Monster-Cavalry-O-Mania

Since i belive :huh :lol to hold the records for most tank kills and most experienced tank from my Monster-Tank-Blitz-O-Mania, see thread here: viewtopic.php?p=5802#p5802 :deal , i decided to go for the cavalry world records too!

I choose Spasteur's an mine KAISER campaign 1848-1865 A LONG JOURNEY TO FREEDOM. In the first scenarios the player can not field an cavalry unit at all but in the later stages there are some very big battles which are perfect for overrun sessions.
Due to the nature of the efile prototypes are rare and only available in the middle part of the campaign, so i don't have to push for BVs to much. I'll post the stats of my cavalry in this thread and add them once a battle was fought (won).
Like in the Monster-Tank-Blitz-O-Mania i am not playing like an accountant and i aim for zero reloads as always, so my records can easily be broken by players who know how to load a savegame :lol

Current scenario: Prologue: Knechtschaft oder Revolution!

The prologue is a very short scenario and you don't have to fight at all. You can move your MSU core unit to the east and withdraw from the battlefield, but you can also use this scenario for training and delay your movements and fight a little bit, so you gain the first experience bar already before you enter the escape hex.

Current scenario: Der Heckerzug

I had to restert the scenario 2 times because i could not even get a tactical victory. The scenario is pretty mouch bound to single combat results and while the enemy gets stroger an stronger the auxiliary units will wear down fast and a single rugged defense can make victory impossible.
At HQ i had only 30pp and did nothing but i got a core recon cavalry by VH trigger hex.

There are 5 isolated VHs on the map. Isolated, because your units approach one VH they will be to slow to get to an other VH later in the battle.
Only an aux cavalry in the south helped to capture the towns of Villingen and Stuttgart.

I am interested in seeing how much units you will kill, but I think it will only last a few scenarios until you have the 136 kills that I gained as I played this campaign the first time. :lol

I dont have my old savegames/AARs anymore so i don't know the overall number of units in that campaign but i guess my :monster cavalry will kill around 700 enemies. We'll see :cool

Current scenario: The Palataine Uprising

At HQ i had exactly the pp needed to buy the best infantry available, 120pp.

We have to lead an uprising against evil Prussia. In the east i have to protect one VH against the enemy attackers and then launch a counterattack to capture a VH in the north.
In the center i have to defend a VH as well. Here my auxiliary units took turns in the frontline and i tried to destroy the enemy horse artillery first.
I also sent 3 units to the far west to capture a lonely VH. This VH also gave me another infantry by trigger. The units of the western battlegrop joined the fight in the center, once the VH was in my hands.
Thanks to the low ammo of all units in the Efile i concentrated my fire on single enemy units and destroyed them one after another after they ran out of ammo. So even 1 SP aux units can still help in the fight and "steal" ammo from the enemy.
I played to the very last turn for a tactical victory in order to squeeze experience points out of the scenario.

Current scenario: The decisive Battle at Waghäusel

Did nothing at HQ. I never got a BV in this scenario, so i didn't try this time too. I entrenched my units around Heidelberg/Mannheim and around Stuttgart and gave up the other VHs. Then i stood my ground for 18 turns and repelled all enemy attacks.

Current scenario: The St. Luis Arsenal

This short scenario, which takes only one minute, marks our arrival in the USA and the start of the Civil War for our units.
I just moved my little army to the two poorly defended VHs and killed the two enemy units and captured the VHs. Got a canon by VH trigger.

Current scenario: The Boonville Races

At HQ i sidegraded two infantry units and the scout.

This is another rather short scenario. I proceeded eastwards along the Missouri river, captured the enemy camp and approached Booneville.
I didn't stop the fighting until the last enemy unit had only one XP left and then captured the VH. Still not a single leader...

Current scenario: Flank them at Wilson's Creek

Finaly i was able to buy a heavy cavalry and the overrun fest begins! I named the cavalry Charles Blucher after a german-american soldier who received a Medal of Honor for his actions in the Civil War.

I deployed 5 units al "Bloody Hill" in the center of the map. Only the scout had to be deployed in the south east, joining axiliary unit General Sigel.
BV limit is 6 turns, TV limit is 16 turns. Of course i chose the latter.
Blucher was present in the center and i prepared everything for his overruns sessions and he could kill most of the enemy units in the scenario. Hecker accidentaly "stole" one of the kills and few units joined the fight in the south, alongside Sigel and my scout, and killed some units at the southern VHs.

Current scenario: Battle of the Hemp Bales

At HQ i bought another artillery and one strength point for Blucher.

Then i deployed my units on College Hill just northeast of Lexington and waited for the enemy attacks. My units did a good job, weaking the enemy units, but due to the slow speed auf Blucher he could ne be everywhere and 3 kills had to be done by other core units.
This is pretty much the most easy scenario of the whole campaign, apart from the prologue and St. Louis and so i had no problems defending my VH and lanuching counterattacks later on.
Got two infantry leaders. Unfortunately Hecker was not one of them.

Current scenario: Spearhead at Pea Ridge

This is so much fun, i couldn't stop playing :lol At HQ i sold the proto infantry and bought 3 regulars instead.

I deployed all my core units in the west and maneuvered them, together with the auxiliary units, into a long front line, Blucher in the center, backed by my guns and a HQ unit. There were some aux units in the east as well, but the just formed a long line to block the enemy and didn't take part in the fighting.
Well, Blucher went through the enemy lines like a hot knife through warm butter and he could grab almost all kills except two, which i giftet to my infantry because i was to lazy :lol
Blucher still has no leader and when he reaches his 5th bar without getting a leader i will add one in Suite, like it is usauly done in the monster tank challenges. I just wanted to wait and see if he will get a leader by himself... oh dear :bonk

Current scenario: Assault at Kernstown

At HQ i bought a horse arty and a regular infantry. Then i upgraded Hecker into a HQ unit and bought some strength points for Blucher.

I deployed all units in the center and then maneuvered Blucher across the map and kept all other units in the back. This was again a rather small scenario.
Of course he got no leader when he got the last experience bar :bonk
When the scenario was finished i added a Overwhelming Attack leader.

Current scenario: Retreat at Bull Run

At HQ i sold the horse arty. 3 ammo is just not enough... I bought another regular artillery instead. Aty have either a range of 2 or 3. And guns with a range of 3 don't give support fire. So i'll buy only range 2 aty. Leaders are worth their pixel weight in gold :lol
I remember well my last run of this campaign when i got not a single aty leader :lol I also upgraded the scout.

Anyway, back to the scenario. This is the first big scenario of the campaign. The player has to hold several VHs and defend them against strong enemy attacks. There are many auxiliary units deployed in the west and i tried to pull back half of them. The other half should delay the enemy.
Blucher got deployed in the northwest with half of my core units. The other half protected the VH in the far east.
The central VHs were abandoned and recaptured in the later stages of the scenario.
Basically i just held the line in the northwest and tried to bring Blucher into battle with some overruns. At the end of the scenario there were some enemies left. A pity.

Current scenario: Must hold Harper's Ferry

Bought a second light cavalry/scout at HQ. Then deployed all units in and just west of Harpers Ferry.
Most enemy attacks came from the west, so that was the area where Blucher was to be found. Few units guarded Harpers Ferry and later launched a counterattack across the bridge in the east.

Current scenario: Take Fredericksburg

At HQ i only bought one SP for Blucher and saved the rest of the money for later. The player also gets 4 free colored infantry units, but unfortunately they are pretty weak and i will sell them off. I'll just keep the leaderd one and upgrade it.

Deployed my units in the east along the front line from north to south, the faster units in the south. Then Blucher and company crossed the river in the south while the northern units formed a defensive line in Fredericksburg.
The southern battlegroup then executed a wide flanking maneuver around the southern tip of the enemy front line. Then Blucher rolled up the whole front from behind. Later more and more units from the east joined the fight hand helped to reduce the enemy units so Blucher could overran them.

Current scenario: Battle of Chancellorsville

At HQ i sold 3 of the colored infantries and bought two guns. I also upgraded the 4th colored infantry and bought two SP for Blucher. I had some money left and bought another regular infantry.

This scenario is one of mine but i have forgotten everything and didn't even remember where the enemy is comming from :lol
So i grouped my core and aux units around the 3 VHs. There is also a lonely VH in the north which i didn't pay attention too.
Blucher got deployed on the center. Then i waited for the enemy. The confederates attacked in the center first but then they also attacked in the east and west. The units in the east did not get any help from Blucher because he can not be everywhere :lol
But at the end i had 4 guns in the east and my strongest infantries. No problemo :yes
So Blucher collected the kills in the center and west.

Current scenario: The Siege of Vicksburg

I had not enough prestige to refit the missing 2 SP for Blucher, so i sold the least experienced infantry.
The player gets also a free ship, but i will sell it come next scenario. It's worth 540pp, but with a movement of just 2 hex/turn it is too slow.

Then i deployed most of my core units east of Vicksburg, few units got deployed on the peninsula.
I used the auxiliary units to breach the defensive system with force brute. The truth it, i sacrificed most of the aux units and lost 93 of them...
Due to the low ammo of most units i let my auxes attack, no matter what... so they can reduce enemy entrenchment and ammo to prepare Blucher's overruns.

Current scenario: Gettysburg

At HQ i sold the ship and bought another artillery and two regular infantries. Then i upgraded one experienced infantry into a HQ unit.

The core units got deployed in the south and moved northwards to Gettysburg as fast as they could. Some got diverted to the southwest where a scout had spotted enemy units.
A large formation of auxiliary units took defensive positions around Gettysburg and are attacked by enemies from western, northern and eastern directions. Blucher and my two HQ units were the first of my core units to arriveat Gettysburg and immediately took part in the fight.
It was pretty hard because i had to try to repell all attacks but the enemy units should not be killed. Of course that was Blucher's job.
Auxiliary reinforcements arrived in the southwest and southeast and joined the fight.
The performance of my guns was abysmal :bonk Only one gained more than 100 exp despite many targets.

Current scenario: Meeting at Bristoe Station

Got a Gatling proto and sold it. At HQ i bought only SP for Blucher and some guns. I also bought a temporary scout that i could retreat through the excape hex and that should help win the scenario.
In this scenario we have to proceed with our core and aux units along the railroad from southwest to northeast and retreat 30 units via escape hex. Enemy attacks will come from the north. Most enemy attacks are launched between Bristoe Station and the escape hex. Blucher was riding left and right and forth and back to kill most of the attackers. But he could not do it alone :lol Its a short scenario and some of my other core units should score some kills so i could end this with a BV.

Current scenario: Seamonsters at Charleston

The player gets a free leadered gun. I noticed only after the first shot that it was a Devastating Fire leader. Nice :lol
At HQ i sold the temporary scout and bought some SP.

The scenario was quite hard and i really thought i would not even get a tactical victory. With all the prestige put into strength points and all the lost strength points my army lacks the numbers. At least some more heavy cavalry would make things easier.

I landed 3 of my guns and some core and aux infantry units in the north to capture Mount Pleasant and the shore VH. I acted very slow, always under the cover of the ships and artillery. Well, all my aux ships gut sunk during the scenario...

In the south i deployed Blucher, the two HQ units and both scouts. The new big gun was also there. They had to leave the swamp first, capturethe nearby VH and then proceed westwards to get to the bridge which leads to Charleston. There is also a shore VH and after the nearby enemy gun was destroyed, the rest of transport ships entered the bay and sailed westwards along the coast.
The remaining aux units were landed near the bridge and with the help of my HQ units and guns i was able to cross the bridge and attack Charleston and captured all VHs in time.
One of the artilleries picked up a leader! Halleluja :cool

Current scenario: The Cadets in New Market

At HQ i just bought some SP.

This is one of the shorter scenarios. After deployment i gave up the southern VHs and built a defensive line. Thanks to my scout i spotted an enemy battlegroup comming from the east. They captured my most northern VH, which was also undefended and then attacked my positions from the north. Blucher and company cleared the north first and then attacked the enemy units which had been stopped by my defensive line. Then i moved slowly southwards and recaptured/captured all VHs. I had enough time :lol to capture the enemy SH for 80pp.

Current scenario: Sigel's Last Command

I bought another scout and some SP.

It's Harpers Ferry again. This time we start northeast of the city. I had to restart the scenario once because the enemy had a Devastating Fire gun with range 4 in the center of the city and that gun alone stopped all my tries to advance. In the next run the random leader was....
....Devastating Fire again :bonk but i now could deal with it and kept my units out of range most of the time.
In the second run i crossed the rivers two times south and east of Harpers Ferry and attacked the city from behind. I used a long period of rain to maneuver my guns and and other units, under the cover of reduced spotting, along the shore north of the city. In the final turns i crossed the river here as well.

Current scenario: Our Marines at Mobile Bay

Bought some SP at HQ.

There's not much to do for Blucher in this scenario. I deployed some units and then sailed with two groups to the two islands/forts.
There Union fleet has a numerical superiority and with naval gun fire support i had no problems to capture the forts.

Current scenario: The Siege of Petersburg

At HQ i bought some SP and saved the rest of the prestige for later.

After deployment i built a long defensive line which ran half around Petersburg in the east and south. In the south i got attacked by a large enemy cavalry formation but luckily i got some cavalry reinforcements one turn later. So i repelled that cavalry attack and moved out to the west and northwest.
The enemy also attacked my defensive line and i had to kill some attackes (29) with my other core units. The map is large and Blucher can not be everywhere :lol
There are around 200 enemies on the map but some are fortified at the rivers in the northeast and out of reach. Petersburg itself is heavily fortified and should not be attacked. I made the mistake to overlook one VH in the west and attacked the city "for training" but i had to withdrew my units and sent many them to the northwest.
So i thinned the defensive line out and many units got sent into the west and northwest. This was the biggest scenario of the campaign so far and Blucher got most exp so far out of this scenario. But only a third place for most kills.

Current scenario: The U.S.C.T. attacks Fort Fisher

Bought some SP at HQ and two temporary bridging infantries. These should later build the needed ports.

After deployment at sea i approached the peninsula with most of my units while some took waiting position at sea. There was a large naval battle taking place at the Cape fear River mouth, but thankfully my auxiliary fleet was big enough to sank all enemy ships and provide naval gun fire support later on.

After landing on the peninsula Blucher and some units approached the forts from the north while some units built a defensive position in the north.
The sappers built 3 ports at the western side of the peninsula at Cape Fear River.
I could weaken the forts and enemy units with naval support fire and my artilleries and Blucher had no problems overrunning all units on at the southern tip of the peninsula. Later he turned northwards and cleared the northern part of the peninsula as well.
Menawhile i had embarked many units again and they sailed to the western shore of the river, met the other naval transports, made landfall and captured the most northern fort and VH.

Current scenario: Close the Trap

The player gets some free core units which are already deployed on the map. At HQ i bought some SP and saved the rest of the prestige for later.

I deployed half of my units in the southwest and half of my units dispersed within the lines of my auxiliary troops around Petersburg.
Yeah, it's Petersburg again and this time we have to capture the city itself. But first i had to repell a hugh enemy cavalry attack in the southwst. There were also attacks of enemy units on my lines around Petersburg and i tried to maneuver my core units into the positions to take the kills.
Then Blucher and company followed the path you can see on the picture below. In the grande finale my units attacked Petersburg from all direction but the kills were reserved for Blucher. This was Blucher's best performance so far with 90+ kills and around 1100 exp :cool
Two scenarios left in this campaign. The next scenario is not that big and i am not sure he will beat these records in the last scenario.

Current scenario: The Key to Richmond

At HQ i sold some units i got last scenario. Then i upgraded the scout and bought some SP. The player gets a free railroad gun in this scenario.
Most of the prestige, around 700pp, i kept for refits for the next and final scenario.
I deployed few strong units at the port in the east, sailed them across the James River and moved them slowly northwards on the eastern shore.

Most units and Blucher got deplyoed at the railroad tracks and in the south. They should proceed northwards on the western shore of the River James and capture Fort Darling and the other fortifications high above the river on Drewry's Bluff. Once the forts were in my hands my engineers built two ports and i sailed Blucher and some other units across the river to attack the eastern VHs from the north. In fact i wanted the kills for Blucher :lol

There was strong enemy ship which alone sank my whole fleet and raised a leader. But it had spent almost all of its ammo and i could sink it with my artillery.

Current scenario: Final Assault at Richmond

At HQ i just bought some strength points and kept the rest of the prestige for refits. Theres also plenty of flags and turn prestige.
Then deployed my units in the south, west and east of the river James. Blucher got deployed in the west.

Playing the scenario took me the whole day with many breaks. There are more than 300 units and its a big map. And i played 49 turns... so i will keep it short.
Basically its the same procedure like always. My core and aux units should only dmage the enemy units and Blucher should collect the kills.
In the west i built 3 ports and Blucher and many other units crossed the river James west of Richmond.

So, this is the end of the campaign and these are Blucher's stats from the last scenario:
