Nice short scenario as introduction. The info about buy/upgrade rules is new to me, will be an interesting experience :)
The reconbomber was useful to ease the way for the infantrie - luck factor struck in my favor as it destroyed a remaining 1 str enemy unit - also no rugged defense occured :phew
ATY proto is always super.

After updating the exe and receiving the 120 pp in 1st turn (and the experience from the 2 previous runs :o ) the scenario was smooth sailing.
The first go was hard with the Russian Bear strolling everywhere :scared

Bought the recommended cavalry unit at HQ - for RPG/GD/Ini reasons an "Ulani Legionowi".

3 Go East! bv (-1)

The Zeppelin is crazy - the Russian destroyer too. This scen reminded me of Blitzkrieg and with the generous aux units to sacrifice *eh* i mean "use tactically smart", this was a solid go. Map pp allowed to reinforce the new Cavalry once, so that it could gather more exp.
I like :)

4) Broken Steamroller ~~ BV ~~ +1 leader

Wicked scenario :)

North
I took the units from the far north-west SH and moved them to the northern VH immediately. Core was divided: MSU+Cavalerie reinforced nothern VH, rest moved to the south-east.
Units were gathered around the airfield and the western woods. The units in the far north-east went hunting the hostiles - in turn 3 only 1 russian (reinforce ?) Inf was left, so i let 1 of my Inf stand here (needed to resupply anyway) in hope it would distract the Russians. Rest of my north-east units finally went back to support the nothern VH.

South-West
Russians everywhere again :scared
Immediately moved units into the woods in order to entrench. Skirmished the hostiles by letting them attack my entrenched units, shooting with the ATY and attacking myself.
Was still very stressy, strength points started to deplete, low on ammo. But they managed to hold position with the reinforces.

South-East
Immediately moved the 2 Inf units back to the city, but let the ATY, MG and RCN defend the river-crossing. This successfully forced the hostiles to move along/"outside" the river to the north, straight into the forts. That bought enough time to defend the VH. Could skirmish the units in the south/central-south by moving some entrenched units out - while the previously attacking entrenched in the city+wood and resupplied.

Reinforcements / turn pp
Reinforcments from turn 2 were divided: Inf [C] and a normal Inf went to the South-West. The rest moved north. Inf supported the nothern VH - MG+ATY moved south-east.
Turn pp was used to reinforce MSU - it took some beating :phew


I'm still thinking if i upgrade the inf and which path i choose.

I'm afraid, that availability of infantry unit called "Polska Siła Zbrojna", was reset to one month later, so it's impossible to upgrade both infantry units to "PSZ" right now. :-o

So just go on with the choice - I recommend BV - and then either upgrade both infantries and buy a transport for one of them, or upgrade one infantry and buy transport for both of them.

I was actually able to do both:
- bought transport for the free core at HQ of choice scenario
- after choice scenario i could upgrade both infantrie units plus buy a second transport

As said: bought transport for free core before, for secind infantry in this HQ plus upgraded both infantry.

Restarted the scenario 2 times.
The first time i went the eastern route and got encircled by the enemy.
Second time i went the western route and missed bv by 1 turn.
Third time i again missed bv, but kept the result: i didn't lose aux units this time (except for the forts) but more importantly: the ATY got a leader :banana

At HQ of "Wilno offensive" i ugraded... well, changed design as it was free and no different stats: Ulani Legionowi to Ulani.
Hoping that auxes would be generous again, i decided to purchase a second cavalry/Ulani instead of recon or artillery.

Some hefty fighting - nicely designed with the 2 Polish army groups :)

The second Cavalery proved very useful. I'm not sure if a second artillery instead would have helped as much here.
I drove my units similar to Blitzkrieg: hard and forward, no rest for those still standing. Was a bit tricky with the MSU infantry.
The 2 new leaders awarded are simply glorious :banana

9) Liberating Bialorus ~~ last turn BV

Decided to not do any upgrades/purchases before freeing Bialorus, in order to save the pp for a larger shopping tour.

1 of the cavalry units reached 5 bars without getting a leader :whine

I took all the auxes i could and pulled them to the center. AI could fend me off for a very long time, overall i tried a "ATY shoot, INF/TK overrun if possible, slowly move the whole group forward" strategy. Was already celebrating "Blitzkrieg" in previous scens and now overconfidentally ran into the blockade. Auxes took the most of the beating - still had to spend about 100 pp on core infantry reinforces. Last turn BV :phew


At HQ i upgraded:
- the Konna Lekko ATY to a stronger version (76.2 mm Konna)
- the good old MG to a Latvian model (7.92 Lozmetejnieks , no Transport ugrade)
- both infanterie transports to the FWD truck

10) Battle of Dyneburg ~~ BV-3

Was about to finish the battle yesterday evening, but then i thought "leave it for today", as there were some decisions to be made.
Today i actually decided to finish the scen ahead of time, even though there was still pp (turn and a minor town hex) and xp to be collected.
Reason: 3 core units are in danger to be destroyed, as they are out of ammo and damaged.

The scenario is nice and large. Although i dislike urban warfare this one was exciting :)
i used similar strategy than previous scen (ATY shoots, TK+Inf move forward slowly).

Upgrades/purchases:
- finally upgraded the trusty old 1st proto ATY to a 75mm Armata with tractor transport (not the strongest upgrade for firepower, but the strongest for pp and mobility with the awarded leader)
- upgraded the MSU bomber to LVG C.VI
- upgraded the non MSU infantry to Grenadierzy
- bought another Grenadierzy

Received a proto fighter: Bristol F.2B :pray :banana

Entrench lvls of up to 16 :eekduh
Had some lucky combat results during the first turns with the nothern army group, then the tides turned (lost 1 nothern inf plus the cav i send north both before turn 8).
First target of the center group was the airfield, the rest was just patience. Proto and freshly bought inf both got leaders :banana

13) Surviving the red tide ~~ BV

Upgrading your MSU inf - 100 pp
Buying a new arty - 800 pp
Realizing you can still learn a lot about strategy - absolutely priceless :D

This is not just a pun: i mostly played Blitzkrieg style campaigns, were defensive scenarios (or somthing like the "Race to Kijów" ) are very rare and usually still easy.
I spent some 15 hours or more on this scen - making the whole thing into a chess battle, thinking ages about every move of every unit and the spotted plus seen-before enemy units.


In the north i had to slowly draw back from the far north east VH to the one a bit more west. Could hold this second VH with the help of the planes (beginning in turn 3, as i moved the planes first to the south east area). Could recapture the lost VH in turn 10. Overall, maybe i marginally exploited the MSU ability to attract AI, in letting the MSU entrench in the minor town hex a bit south of these 2 VHs and thus distracting a part of the AI units :o
2-3 turns after the recapture, as the AI didn't make any attacks anymore (all units on "my" side of the river were finally destroyed), i sent the planes south to hunt the AI planes.

In the south i could fend the AI off (moved all units from the central VH down here). The swamp area was very useful, as i could lure some enemies to the area between the swamp and the Kamenka River (hex 26,27) so the whole group/batle here was split into 2 smaller fights, with the enemy having not enough room to maneuver and position well. However, it wasn't until turn 11 or 12 that this was over. After that i let the units move into the far south eastern area - capturing the air field and destroying the bridges.
Also build a dirt airfield around turn 10, in preparation of the last stage of the scen.

In the south east i lost and recaptured the VH twice, also spent 150 or more pp on reinforces. The 2 soviet aty and the overall posibility of the AI units between forest and city to position well was a headache. The units from the south east were a lesser problem as i managed to destroy their bridge engineers and block them in the river.


Was actually quite confused that ALL turns needed to be played - instead of the scenario ending on turn X if the corresponding number of VHs was hold.
I liked the scenario very much and will surely replay it after the CC :)

14) Battle of Warszawa: Poland's last chance ~~ BV-1

Russians everywhere :scared

Hiding my units in the entrenchable terrain as much as possible or using the river/swamp terrain as a barrier. The western VH was lost and retaken 3 times.
Around turn 8-9 the initiative slowly turned over to me and could start to drive the hostiles away. Around turn 10 the central and eastern units finally broke through the lines. In turn 11 the last time any of my planes participated in attacks.

With +12 lost units this scen is as freaky as "surviving the red tide" (+11 lost units there), those 2 scens make up 1/4 of all my losses during the campaign so far :yikes

15) Komarów, the last cavalry battle ~~ BV-2

Upgraded my towed MG to a CAV/SP MG.

I had only 4 units that would have qualified as "cavalry", so i decided to break the rule of only "cavalry" units.
In addition to the 2 heavy cav., the cav. arty and the SP MG, i deployed 1 ATY and 1 INF - each the least experienced units of my core.

Nothing special about strategy: rushed the north-western and north VH. After that, positioned my units between these hexes. Together with auxes and reinfrorcements, the positions were easy to hold.
Having only the most south-east airfield was a bit complicated (one more time that i bited my own arse for wrongly upgrading my 2 INF to Grenadierzy instead of 1 engineer and 1 strong inf - also a reason for not deploying them), but nothing un-managable. During the last turns, my planes were roaming the north-eastern area, without caring for fuel.

Missed BV because of the "only cav" rule :nyet
In total though, i can easily say: the rule is very RPG-stylish, shame on me for not faithfully following it :-o

16) Riding across the Niemen River ~~ BV-2

New header in the AAR below.
Before the start/still at HQ, as i didn't spend the pp when i last saved: bought a new heavy cavalry and a new MG cavalry.
BV-3.
Received tank proto.

Very nice large scenario. Thanks to the new AI and the large armies, there was action all over the place in every turn. The scen played very dynamic :)
The AI was very strong, trying to get into good defensive postions and doing counter attacks when favorable (the south-east was in constant danger to become lost, due to the counter attacks :scared ). At the end of the scen, many aux units were hugging far behind the frontline with only 1-3 SP left, and some more were lost.
Conspiracy: the aux units earned leaders... i'm sure they blocked at least 1 of my Artys to get a leader :whine OTOH, the heavy Arty as well as the new heavy cavalry gained leaders :)
Most agonizing losses i suffered: 5-6 units because they were out of ammo :gasp
Most useful lesson learned: become more flexible with core composition, and more patient when setting up the attack :yep

Divided the cavalry into 2 groups - 1 heading south-east, the other east through the rivers. All towed units went north. Although all planes supported the troops in the north, this was still a tough battle: the AI constantly sent reinforcments from the center (i guess).
The other groups did a bit better, but were still slow. An infantry in each of them would have been a good addition.
