Raced through Thechoslovakia against minor resistance. BV, 650pp, Pz IVC as proto.

Auxes in the west fought for the golden banana. As they aren't Minions they just retreated one hex and held Siesta. The core tried to race northeast, but met stiff resistance. Numerous inf, some tk and recon blocked the forthcoming. Some evil planes hovered above me. All but nice! Still my Pz IVC broke through the lines and took the airport-VH. The last VH to fall was somewhere in the middle. Used some auxes to dislodge the defenders, and a core-inf walked in.


Guadalajara

Core raced southwest, with a pincer to the north at some point to capture a VH. Not much resistance on the way. Auxes faced a lot enemies in the south. The static battle here aimed for nothing.

VH-defense looked hard on the first glimpse, but wasn't. An easy LTBV.

The initial defense in front of the town was easy to break, and the core soon swarmed east. Some unis chased the polish cavalry in the south down and afterwards raced to the southeastern VH. A bit more north I left the airport being an airport and headed to the VH. Two GT of intense fighting against a surprisingly strong enemy took me in range. Then Luftwaffe cleared the VH. One GT later again the Luftwaffe shook the defenders on the southeastern VH. An inf-attack drew the defenders out, and the Pz IID took the town in triumph.

Core raced east on a road through the hills, and the auxes took a short glimpse north. Seeing what was coming from there I bought two AT, and a GT later an AD to get rid of some nasty planes. The mortar was also called back. The attack from the north was broken on GT 5.

The core reached Lemberg from southeastern direction as I had bypassed it on the southern side of the river. A grueling fight arose, against entrenched inf and not less than six crossfiring aty. My single Bf did the best to block the aty-supplies, but at least two of them got fully reloaded each GT. So I took them out one by one and ignored the VH for some GT. The scen drew lots of sp on recon and tk. In return I won not less than 5 leaders. After I got rid of the guns I could take the VH on. Without aty-support they fell within two GT for a BV-2.


Denmark

Did nothing at HQ.

Easy task, maybe not too easy if you haven't got a recon and a leadered Pz IID. In the eastern waters I deployed two inf, which disembarked at GT 2, raced north to their objective and took it on GT 5.

Main thrust went from the deployment-zone to the north. Twice I used my inf to prepare/dislodge the defenders and my Liberator took the VH, one time I could use aty-fire and the recon.

Let's see what I can do to pop up my core...


Lillehammer

Should have bought Fallschirmjaeger here, on the western side and maybe in the north it might have been easier. However, on the western side I had a tank without leader, two inf, AD, mortar and a second small aty. After a first attempt for a breakthrough I had to regroup, which cost some time on the small peninsula. Afterwards it got easier, but still was a hard fight despite there were only three defenders. After the mortar won a leader things went better.

Driving up north on the western side was no problem. I detected a group of backstabbers, and my inf with truck-tp returned to a VH and fought them until the end of the scen. In the north it was another meat-grinder. A load of OS'ed inf, some with leaders, and two aty on strategic positions delivered a hard-to-beat defence. The tide turned after my small aty also won a leader - this time DevFire. The RM-tk and the SuperMan-pios broke through the line of defenders and captured the VH in Lillehammer. Last one to take was on an airport. The defenders left the VH after some shelling and a tk-attack.

Because of the experience in Lillehammer I decided to invest in a Flying Circus. It would have been good, if the deployment-zone was anywhere near the airport. The Fallschirmjäger have good movement and easily took the northwesternmost VH. The FJ-MG could fire a single shot during the fight for the last VH.

I only headed west and ignored all almost flags on my way. Had to refit an aty after a suicidal cavalry-attack. Else I reached the numerous VH in good shape and had not too much problems to capture 'em in BV-time.

Fallschirms and FJ-MG went northwest, were dropped at the VH, took an aty out and were rewarded with a leader. Then the one or other weak allied unit came dripping by and kept me from attacking the VH.

Largest part of the core came from the northeast and met not too much opposition. Some aty, some inf, some tk, nothing special. My units swarmed all over the eastern part of the map and took everything out. A VH behind a river was a challenge, but I solved it within three GT. Despite the given 15 GT I slowly ran out of time, as the Fallschirms never really had a chance to attack the VH-defenders, the way up there is long, and another VH was still to conquer.

To my great relief the resitance had already been broken. The fastest units swept northwest, while the slower ones had only minor problems to take theanother VH behind a river. In the end it became a BV-1.


Dunkirk

Deployed roughly half on both zones, with a tad more armour and aty-power in the north. First goal in the north was the airport, taken on GT 2. In the south I ignored the given bridge over the river and instead attacked the VH from the east. This was rather easy, it was secured on GT 3. From there I moved towards the southernmost french VH.

Auxes in the west concentrated on two pincers to the VHs in the area (british more in the north, french in the south). I needed two GT for regrouping before my attack could take grip. The southern group hat the most aty, but it also faced the most entrenched defenders. In the end they came close to the southern french VH, but didn't reach it. The other group of auxes stormed through a number of Abri and took some inf out on their way to the british VH. This was empty on GT 5, I just walked in and moved forther south towards the french one. There they met the southern core-group, which had weathered an allied aty-attack on GT 5. Together they took this VH on GT 7.

The northern core-group had a short way towards the two objectives, but met fierce resistance. Worst thing were the numerous freshly bought aty which popped up nearly every GT beside the leadered Engineers which defendet the coastal VH. Finally the RM-tk could take a parking lot on the popup-up zone. The other VH fell after an attack of my Sturmpioniere, and two GT later exactly this unit also blew the Engineers. The numerous allied airforce only attacked on GT 6 and killed the aux-TB. Don't know why they were so reluctant. LTBV and 982pp.


Calais

Did nothing @ HQ.

Everything I had to deploy was immediately pulled up north. My FJ-units walked to the airport and boarded their Ju-52/3m. At GT 4 they looked for a comfy landing-zone at the western VH, were dropped on GT 5 and stomped an aty into the ground. Then they settled to attack the VH.

The main battle was fought south and west of the airport. It was an astonishing defensive position the allied had taken - a ring of inf some hexes away from the VH, and the aty outside of the ring. Again numerous ftr und TB swarmed above my core, but except for one occasion didn't bother to attack. So I could build a decent striking force and brake straight through the ring. Some helpless counterattacks died down in raining aty-shells. In GT 6 the VH was mine and the defenders had evaporated. Except the complete Home Fleet (at least it felt like that), which now began to bombard the inf in the harbour. This was the scariest situation of the whole scen, as I had to replace the inf twice - the loss of sp was amazing in that harbour-hex!

Three or four units from the north were fast enough to get to the southern VH in time to lend a helping hand to my FJ, which in the meantime had lowered the entrenchement of the defenders by MG-fire. After a number of weakening shots the Fallschirms killed the defenders and walked in for a LTBV.

After this shopping spree I deployed and raced south. At the first VH half of my core went east through the hills, the other half moved further south. FJ-units took the airport behind the southeastern VH and erased an aty, which else might have become nasty.

Again quite some airforce on the allied side, but my AD kept it under control. And yes, this time the airforce indeed attacked - at least, it tried. In the end the long distance was the biggest problem to achieve the BV, not the enemy.


Thermopylae

Deployment is a little cramped, but the allied are some hexes away. Due to terrain it's not easy to get the units into a suitable setup to move and fight. In the east is a single VH, defended by more than just a bunch of aty. The other VHs are lined up like a string of pearls along a road through the mountains, with the known problems to get driving, setup, defending and attacking under one hat.

Fallschirms were able to take a SH somewhere in the south, but this had no real impact on the scen. Setting up a suitable formation to attack the first VH just south of the deployment-zone wasn't easy. The AI has a comfy line of defense. After this unhealthy confrontation I wanted to move southeast fast. To my dismay the core got halted on several occasions by attacking tk or Pioneers. All in all a not that hard task, but the way was just too long for me to make it in BV-time. BV + 2.


Crete

Well, because of a warning in the intro I didn't use all given deployment-hexes, only 12 units tried to get a foothold on Crete. The new TB was caught by an AD on GT 2 and had to retreat. At the shore my landing force got a very warm welcome, but the one or other tk could climb the coast and started to overrun the defenders.

On GT 5 everything was on the island. The auxes got slowly worn down, but until now held their positions. The recon and an inf spied around in the western part, the brunt of my core marched east, the Fallschirms moved southeast behind the last VH. The first VH had a good defensive setup, I needed two GT to get over it. On GT 6 the auxes lost the western VH. But two units survived and moved in a bow towards the decisive VH in that area. On GT 7 they attacked the VH from the west, while the two cores in the area (recon and inf, as you might remember) came in from the east. Due to quite some aty there this became a lengthy operation. None from the other allied units in the area (bunch of inf, Cruiser-tk) did anything.

Back to the east. Having lost the first VH, the RAF (a nuisance until now) fled. The Pz IID and Fallschirms started to attack the harbour-VH and were victorious after two GT. Marched in and started to deploy the rest of my core. Every allied unit in my sight got killed, even the airport on a northern peninsula was taken. The western VH was captured, the auxes still held the southernmost VH - but the scen didn't end! Looking at the strategic map I found another VH I needed to take, right beside the harbour-VH. I thought there was a sandbox, instead it was an entrenched inf! Two of the deployed units could still hit and tore the defenders from 10 to 6 sp. So I had to go to requisition-screen and buy an inf. This blew the sandbox - err, entrenched inf - and marched in.

Lvov

Deplyoed aty at the front and a mixture of armour and inf behind it. Blew a hole into the center of the defending line and raced towards Lvov or Lemberg. Fallschirms were flown to the northeastern VH. They took it on GT 4 after a short fight with a tk. When the FJ-MG had reached the airport, they were flown to the southeastern VH.

The auxes and some slow cores cleared the complete initial line of defenders, which kept them busy until GT 6. The auxes in the southwest moved up and down, finding defenders in the dozens, but no way to even take a flag. At least they survived, which may count as a success. At Lvov I found entrenched defenders, but nothing my aty couldn't handle. On GT 7 I held the city-limits, and one of my SPAD took the VH for more exp. The way to the last VH's was free, and the VH themselves were empty. Pretty easy LTBV.

The Intro said "watch your flank", so I decided to not have a flank. Instead of through the middle I moved along a road in the south and then up north. This way I had a river on my flank, protecting my core. On the other hand is this a very long way, and my army arrived a bit in a disarray and partly without fuel. But I was halfway behind the first VHs, attacking the from the rear. By the way, two units were left behind to keep a close look on my home-VHs.

Fallschirms were already further north at an airport. They first blew an aty, but then got involved in a lengthy fight with a BT-tank and an inf. On the last GT they could attack the VH in the area. And some units watched a river-crossing in my back. This was virtual, as some strong tk tried to counter. I could contain this attack. The Russian airforce is again strong in numbers. A couple got down, a couple evaded.

The attack on the first VH was a complete success. There were numerous Russians, but all inexperienced and with low stats. No problem occured, so I moved furth north to some more VH. BV-time was already ticking out, but on the last GT my aty was in good positions to lower entrenchements of the VH-defenders. Also defending aty got silenced. Then my inf marched up and deleted what was left on the VH. LTBV, two more leaders, no proto.

An in initial inf-attack from the north was broken by Luftwaffe, and taking the first VH right in front of me was easy. Afterwards it became a bit scary. A tank-attack from the north could be contained (thx for the aux-AT!), but from the northeast wave after wave came in. My best units could break out east towards the VHs there, but no way to get anyhow to the far-away northeastern VH. And during the breakout my DevFire-aty got badly mauled. Needed a refit which cost all my money.

Without the Fallschirms there is no chance to reach the two VH in the northeast in time. With the Fallschirms it is easy. Take the northeasternmost VH and the airport, board the Ju again and attack the other VH. While the eastern pincer gained ground, the fight to survive all the inf- and tk-attacks between the two VH in the middle of the map was an issue. The Overwatcher became the decisive weapon. Some Russian planes came by only to be taken down in the middle of battle.

During the last three GT I moved forward in the middle, against still strong tk-units and a load of aty around the VH. On the last GT I could conquer all three remaining VH (northeast, east, and the middle). Holding the one in the middle was possible with a little luck. BV!

Had my aty at front in the north and silenced the worst aty around the VH. Then I retreated the shooting compartment and moved the DetDef-inf, the Overwatcher and the RM-tk up. Two or three Russians tried to attack and were doomed. Auxes in the north retreated out of sight. In the south I first moved south on my side of the river, and from GT 4 on I reduced the defending line with aty (had two there plus the new SPAty). With help from the Luftwaffe and a newly won DevFire-leader on my aty the Russains lost most aty within short time. Fallschirm moved south of the southernmost VH.

My aty in the north depleted more and more aty and inf, slowly the frontline cleared. A couple of tanks moved up, but always came in range of the Overwatcher and got blown in the next GT. From GT 6 on I moved east and south, as there were almost no defenders in range anymore. In fact, the defense to the east had evaporated. The pincer to the two VH in the middle faced a tad more enemies, but nothing that could hold me.

The Fallschirms easily took their objective down south. But the other southern group faced hard resistance. After I had crossed the river, vast numbers of inf marched up and attacked ruthlessly. My aty had to be reloaded every GT, while the armour and inf lost too much sp for my taste. My TB got almost downed (remember me, that a guarding ftr needs ammo). On GT 8 I took the VH, lost it again (had imagined that and used my recon for the in-and-out), and retook it. Same GT the last VH in the middle fell for a BV-3.

Got cores (in the south) and auxes (in the north) grouped for attack on the first GT, but to my amazement the Russians attacked head-on on both locations. Lost quite some sp during this intial battle, and needed another three GT to break free and refit core-units.

After reaching the city-limits it got worse. Grueling fight against inf, aty, tk, airforce, aty, AD, aty and even more aty. From GT 6 on my goal changed from BV to TV, with focus on keeping the core alive. So I'm very happy to have come through without core-loss, and even made a regular vic.

The plan was to cut my core half and go with one half through the north and the other half, well, through the south. This plan was busted in the north by an armoured counterattack which cost me a lot sp, and in the south by a well defended town.

In GT 3 I had taken the VH in the south and cut a way through the defenders to spread out east, while the VH there was under constant attack. My mortar fired until the barrel was red-hot, but it kept the VH in my hands. In the north the Russian armour was turned to rubbish, the mauled units were refitted, and the unharmed fast units closed in on the first VH. Problems here were two recons, parts of the Russian airforce and a 14str KV-1. Recons could be blown, the airforce was held away by my Bf-109, and the tk made the mistake to move into the town-VH. There it fell to two inf-attacks.

The VH in the east were far away from my army, and the way cost me too much time. Bought me a LB to gain punch from the air onto some of the defending aty. The three northern VH could be taken until time ticked out, but the southernmost could not be captured. Regular vic.


Kazan

Did again nothing @ HQ.

First GT was easy, and I took the first VH eliminating all defenders. Then Russian armour popped up from the east and the south. Not a big problem in the north, as I had most of my power there. In the south I had the Hungarians and some of my lower experienced troops. Luftwaffe helped me out, and I sent some armour from the north to the south. In the north I took the westernmost VH and moved east from there.

In the south I captured the VH in the middle and sent the fastest untis east, while the slower ones turned further south. They faced no problems, but the (empty) VH in the middle was retaken by an inf. Needed two GT to reach the VH again and throw the defenders out. Whem my fast untis reached the region around the southeastern VH, a vast load of defenders had gathered. There's an SH behind the VH, and this kept on spitting out weak inf and some mortars. Around ten inf, four mortars, an AD and an experienced AT were sitting along a river. Good to have some aty with fast transports!

The northeastern VH also had a good defense. I had to risk my Fallschirms to take a big aty out. To my amazement the FJ were not attacked on the AI's turn. Then my armour, some inf and aty reached the area. The AI countered with some fresh cavalry and an MG-unit, but in vain. Within two GT they were all gone. But this delayed my drive south just long enough, there was no chance any unit from the north could reach the south in BV-time. So the southern group had to make it alone. And they did! LTBV.

Put 1 point of OS on every AD

Deployed and moved. This is a very moving scen, as you more or less only move. There's only action for the fastest units. Fallschirms were dropped behind the southern VH and deleted some aty. The rest down here is mopping up, and five units had something to do. In the north both my DevFire-aty, leadered recon and a leadered tank reached the VH in time. With help from the Luftwaffe they deleted a tk, an inf and an aty. Then the way was free for my recon to sneak into the VH. LTBV.

Took the first VH on GT 1, and afterwards my units with tracked transports left the street and raced for in the south towards the westernmost VH. The others wheeled along the road to the VH in the middle, with a short stop somewhere in between to come over a fortified position. Here the RAF moved up in strength. My AD took most sp from them, the Luftwaffe mopped the remnants up. I like working AD-traps!

While the fast units raced west, they had to refuel in a mountainous region in the south. The FJ-units got airborne and were flown to the VH in the west. The slower units captured the middle-VH after a hard fight, and FJ and fast units arrived south of the last VH at BV-1. There they met a load of entrenched inf, bunkers, crossfiring aty, and experienced 2-pdr AT-guns. No way to make it in BV-time! The combined fast-and-airbone units battled their way towards the VH, losing lots of sp. Became a vic on the last possible turn.

Had a little luck with my deployment (aty in front), as there is a well defended road-block right where I started. Punched through, and took the first flag (not VH!) on GT 3. Italians in the south were reinforced by aty and tk. They needed four GT to take the first flag, against a clever defensive setup with leadered recon, some tanks, aty and entrenched inf. Taking a strong and aggressive RAF into account, all my units were busy and also had luck to reach the northeastern city-limits at full strength.

The city is defended by a load of entrenched and experienced inf, accompanied by quite some aty and with a backup of armoured units. AD on the other hand can hardly be found. So when the bunch of Spitfires and Tomahawks were done, Luftwaffe and Italian planes ruled the sky. This (and my aty) secured a steady pace while driving southwest. My Fallschirms arrived behind the southwestern VH on BV-5. They blew an aty, weathered a small counterattack, dislodged the VH-defenders and took the VH on BV-1. At the same time a tk moved into the last town-VH.

Only six GT for a BV? Either Blitzkrieg or impossible. Deployed with 'Blitzkrieg' in my mind, so aty was at the front and the fast units behind them. Was quite right. Airport was taken on GT 1 already, Fallschirms reached it on GT 2, arrived by air at the southernmost VH on GT 5, dislodged the defenders on GT 6 and a recon sneaked in.

The core took position around the easternmost VH on GT 3. Until then aux-planes and the Bf-110 had suffered a lot from the RAF, but now my AD could get into the fight. The VH was simply overrun, while the RAF was downed. The way to the western VHs was not easy, nasty AT and aty are defending. Around the VH some aty and inf are setup for defense, so I had to stay focused. And made it!

Hm, this one turned out to be an Armageddon for me. It was the around fifteenth try which got me a last turn TV. All other efforts were broken off, either because of too high losses or because I ran out of time. This is an awful struggle against a vast load of overstenghed armour, RAF, observation bunkers, RN, aty and inf. And on sand for most of the time.

Thus I give only some hints: stay away from the coast, and look for air-cover.

With a load of luck I did it right. Northern cores and auxes moved fast southwest to the two VHs, a part of my core moved south towards another pair of VH, another part moved west right through the middle of the map, Fallschirms were flown to a VH in the mid-southern area.

The defensive setup was clever once again, the way through the middle is narrow, and the Spanish have experienced, entrenched units. Still the southeastern part was down with ease, and the Fallschirms blew the bunker on the targeted VH in no time. My leadered recon passed the then empty area towards the VH on the airport in the southwest. The other groups faced far more problems, fought against tiny tanks on steroids, entrenched inf and leadered aty.

Reached the southwestern town with already mauled tanks and aty low on ammo on the last turn for a BV. A lucky aty-shot killed the defending inf, while the Overwatcher and the already mentioned leadered recon took the remainning airport-VH.

This was more or less a walk in the park. Brandenburger took the midwestern town of Porto on their own, the other FJ-units took the northwestern one (Viano de Costelo). The southwestern town was named Ovar and simply overrun by superior forces, as was Chaves in the north. The Pz IIIN had some fun in the middle of nowhere with a couple of weak Portugese defenders.

Used the old trick of conquering a port and deploy from there. There are in fact two ports on the western side. The southern one was taken by the aux-Fallschirmjäger on GT 3. After some shelling from Prinz Eugen and Tirpitz one para dislodged the defenders and another para were dropped into the harbour. Now I could deploy my ground-units, and my core spread out north and south. Not too easy in the northern region, but pretty hard in southern direction.

One VH is on the wrong side of an Escarpment. Two para (not dropped until now) moved over there, and additionally the defender got shelled from my core-aty. And once again para 1 deleted the defenders, and the second para was dropped into the VH. On my way south I suffered a bit from the RAF and more aty than expected, but this did not keep me away from the BV.

Once again I deployed only my Flying Circus. This time I needed 4 GT to deplete the RN into something that couldn't harrass my groundtroops, get rid of some annoying aty, an even more annoying AD and to clear a harbour-hex. Some rainy weather helped me a lot. Then I could drop my paras into the harbour and started to deploy my ground-units. Two GT of hard fights later the peninsula was cleared from all enemies. Some units got refitted, all got replenishment. Then I headed east in strength and west with fast units.

During this time the battle on the western island was entertaining. I could stop the british attacks on cost of quite some auxes. Then I deployed my lesser experienced units (two tanks, SPAD, two aty, three inf) and mopped up, while the RAF ruled the sky. On GT 10 there were no Tommys to be met anymore.

On british soil I had no problems to conquer the eastern part, though my Tiger got down to 5str after multiple attacks. Defense around the airport was clever, but no match for all my leadered units. I had underestimated the defense of the western part. Struggled a bit, especially around the southern VH, against Shermans and RAF. Kriegsmarine helped me out against ground-units, but I could not do much against the strong Spitfires and Typhoons. On the last GT for a BV my Liberator could take the last VH for a LTBV.

Deployed most tanks and most aty in the northern zone. On the coast are two SH on ports, so the player might deploy from there also - but you have to conquer them first. Although aux-panzers are placed on them - a little weird. On the other hand there is not space to set anything up, because the area is cramped with defenders. More auxes hold other hexes and VH along the coast, but honestly - they are doomed. The Kriegsmarine had sent some vessels, but they are helpless against overstrenghed and experienced armour. On the other hand did the RN not show up, so the KM ruled the seas.

However, my weaker units went east in the north and found a strong armoured group blocking the way towards the VH. Needed three GT to overwhelm them - they are backed up by aty, and the RAF likes to visit the lovely landscape up here. Definately not an easy task.

The deployed and battle-hardened units went south and found little resistance. The biggest problem at the port-V/SH are the aty-units, which are gathered there. The aux-panzers can't move at all. After I managed to get rid of the aux-Tiger, the other tk could take that V/SH. And I could deploy two inf with good leaders for defensive purposes. They weathered all attacks that the AI started, and together with the arriving force from the north they cleaned the surrounding town. The rest of my core was then deployed and spread out to the left and the right.

Still a dangerous operation, there are a lot enemies around the VHs. And never ever let the RAF out of your mind - it's strong once again. By the way - an aux para stood on a harbour-hex. They entered a landing-craft, travelled to the southwesternmost VH, disembarked and took it. The other VHs could be taken in BV-time - in the south my Tigers couldn't be stopped by any countermeasure the AI could think of, and in the north combined attacks from air and ground were to much for the defenders.

7 GT of time for a BV - this means Blitzkrieg. Right at the start there's mostly AD in sight, later on some armour was also met. A rather small force (two aty, two inf, recon, AD, flamethrower) went southwest and took both VH against not too strong enemies. Most core-inf and some aty moved straight north along the outskirts of London. Met weak, but overstrengthed Home Guards and some AD, but nothing special.

Main Force moved northwest, with Tigers in Front, a mixture of cores and the aux Fallschirms behind 'em, covered by AD. Except for few occasions the strong RAF couldn't harm my striking force. The SPAD work well when accompanied by an CS-unit! Kept the Luftwaffe out of sight, they still had some success with strafing raids. Brandenburger took the VH in the midwest on their own.

Closing in on the northwestern VH quite some US-boys came for a visit, which they didn't survive. LTBV with a tricky last GT.

Some of the auxes could be saved, they found a way down south. The core was initially blocked by a group of Italians, but those were done after the first GT. The surviving auxes in the south grouped for attack on the mid-southern VH and were successfull on GT 4. The southwestern VH was later taken by the Brandenburgers, while this aux-group settled to attack a couple of more northern VH.

I sent a small group east, as there is a VH in the middle of nowhere. The way is secured by a fort, still the group took the VH on GT 5. The southgoing core retook a VH on GT 3 and moved on towards a number of VH at the coast. There they got a warm welcome by armour and fire from BB. By the way, one of my subs got soon sunk by DD, the other survived at 2str. And the Italian airforce didn't survive the encounter with Mr. Focke and Mr. Wulf.

During the fight for the coastal VHs I decided to retreat the weaker units a bit. Out of the line of view my aty shelled the defenders, some tanks ran over them and took the VHs. The Reggia Marina found a new target in this units and enthusiastically fired at them. In the end I reached the VHs in the middle on GT 8 an took (or retook) everything in BV-time.

Once again I used the trick to capture a port-hex and deploy from there. This one is a bit south of the middle of the map. When my Fallschirms captured it, it was a 'blown' SH, so I couldn't deploy. The Brandenburger came to 'repair' it, so from GT 4 on I could use it. Moved north at full speed. Meanwhile some Italian auxes, which in fact landed (paraciuditisti) or disembarked (others), battled for a VH on the northern coastline and finally took it. A bunch of units without parachuting ability took an airpport in the southern area.

Italian auxes and the core met around GT 7 southeast of Washington. Above us the USAAF moved around, and sometimes got caught by AD fire. It there was a battered fighter anywhere, I moved the Focke-Wulfs in to delete it. The problem was a number of heavy aty in Washington, which were always picking out my weaker units like SPAD, aty, or inf. I think, my 3,7cm Flak Truck had to be refitted three times from less than 4str. And on every GT armoured units, recons and strong inf poured out of the city to attack the core head-on. For about 4 GT I made only minimal progress.

Instead the southern airport suddenly came under attack, and I had to send some paras down there to keep it in my hands. The Kriegsmarine was more or less without any use. The Navy gut sunk by the u-boats alone (OK, some TB-attacks and one shot from a Bismarck were helpful). So it came to my mind, I could also take the southern SH with my weaker/inexperienced ground-units. Deleting the defending inf wasn't a problem at all, but next GT the AI bought half an army at that SH and started to cripple my precious units! Could take the SH the very next GT (with help from Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe) and bought two AT-MG and a Grenadiere. Together they solved the selfmade problem.

In the north it seemed to me, the AI was running out of armour and I was also winning the airwar. I started an attack, and with a number of units in the river it was the perfekt time to get beaten in the back by arriving american reinforces. Or maybe fresh bought units, I don't know. Some of my units got far down in strength. But this was in fact the last try to stop me. I had killed all recons, so the AI was more or less blind during most actions, enabling me to take all warbirds down and surprise a number of heavy tanks. On the other hand, BV-time had passed. Played it down safely for a LTV.

I moved the Fallschirms to the far southwest and dropped them south of an airport. This nearly became a catastrophy, as the VH a tad north of the airport sent a striking force with inf, aty, AD, a new-bought tk and a couple of ftr. Wasted a fortune to keep them alive. To the northwest I sent a pincer with inf, light aty, a SPAD and a recon through the mountains, aiming at the VH in the north. But the first goal was to conquer the harbour in Norfolk with alomst only armour and heavy aty. This wasn't easy, but once I had taken it, the rest of my core was deployed.

Most were sent north to assist the group in the mountains, the fastest went further west to save the parachutes, and some tried to fend off numerous GI which tried to retake Norfolk with assistance of the USN. I bought a couple of new inf to build a line between my aty and the attaking ground-units. Two subs were bought to occupy the harbour-hex and also soften the bigger vessels. This somehow worked out.

In the north the group of alpine volunteers were relieved from pressure by the arriving cores from the south. Together they took the VH and could build a defensive perimeter. They were happy to survive a counterattack. In the west I had not too much problems, as the defenders were still trying to kill the parachutes and paid no attention to my arriving core.

A small group with one aty, one SPAD, one AT and an inf was placed in the north. In the main eastern zone I placed aty in front, the Generalstab behind them, a recon and the Overwatcher. The northern group needed immediate help on the first GT, as they faced entrenched inf and aty. So the Luftwaffe scrambled up there. In the east I cleared the first line of foes, and afterwards moved more and more armour from HQ to the front. SPAD behind them, some aty moved a tad west. Fallschirms were grouped around the leadered FW 190.

The counter was a bit of a let down. Some Shermans marched up, while in the north the remaining defenders ran away. A small group of ftr and TB came by, one took an AD-hit. That was all. Next GT I took a ftr and a TB down, deleted all Shermans in sight, aty crippled the next line of defense. The leadered recon spied around, and I halted any advance of non-armoured units. Two big guns in the town - phew! Tiger, a Panther, a recon, two small aty and an inf moved south over the river to get into a comfortable position behind the town. This didn't really work, as there are quite some defenders there, not to mention three VH along the river. Another armoured group broke out to the north and took the airport. Detected a ftr and a TB here and took them down. In the north my group advanced towards the VH.

From now on it became silent at the eastern part the town, as I hardly advanced and the AI didn't bothered to attack. The northern VH fell soon, in the south I took the first VH. My flying circus had no problems to take the northwestern VH and an adjacent airport, while Jagdpanthers and other armour raced towards yet another VH in the northern area. Fallschirms took to the sky again and moved to the two westernmost VH. One took a hit from an AD. The southern group captured the next VH and could silence one of the big guns in the town. All this under rather hefty fire from aty in the area, especially another big gun at the westernmost VH. However, the blown aty was the sign to attack in the town. With both eyes closed for the massive losses of sp I cleared the town within two GT. The Fallschirms had some problems with their second task due to counterfiring aty, but still they made it. The last two VH (one at the river and the one in the north) fell on the last GT for a BV.

A small detachement went east and then south along the river, an even smaller pincer moved straight south. Four Fallschirms moved to the northwestern island, but touched down only on GT 6. Main thrust lay in southeastern direction. There was a defensive line around a big fat ugly gun, which was deleted on GT 2. Breakthrough was completed on GT 3. Some enemies are placed in the north, but nothing that could harm me in any way. The southgoing units reached the VH on GT 5 and took it on GT 6.

The naval fight went so-so, soon lost a sub and a DD a little later. On the other hand, the USN lost every single vessel. On the last played turn the KM could even shake the defenders of the northern island, and the landing party had no problems to take the VH. A A20-TB showed up, only to be downed in no time.

The battle in the middle was halfway interesting. Shermans are no match for my experienced tank-corps, the few weak aty were no real threat. Only three AD delivered something like a fight. Deleted almost all defenders. AI bought two Sextons and two Hurricane IVD, but none of those units or the given P-51 or P-47 had impact on my advance. Easy LTBV.

Operation Walkuere

Spent a long time between the requisition and the upgrade screen. Finally I went with a V-2 for fire-support from the back.

Had my heaviest units in the north to stop a possible advance there, which left the south to numerous auxes and my weaker forces. Initial plan was to drop my Fallschirms somewhere behind the lines, but this didn't happen as the small Luftwaffe was too busy to bring down the russian airforce and couldn't waste any ftr to guard the parachuters on their voyage east.

The Russian attack in the northeast could in fact be contained behind the river. Tried to pull all auxes from the middle and the south back to a VH which I lost on the first GT to attacking Speznaz. This went Ok for most auxes from the middle, but the southern auxes were too slow for the fast Russians. Lost around half of them. Some escaped into southern woods, though. The middle became kind of a black box for me, while the escaped auxes regrouped in the woods and went from there east towards their initial VH.

With the north secured, I sent two inf, a tk and a recon to the Russian VH in the northeast. The ground-counditions had turned to 'mud', so it was quite a task to move the other units southwest to secure my VH from what was coming up through the middle. The V-2 weakened a lot aty, and my AD and the ftr were busy to keep the Russian airforce under control. Around GT 6 all Yaks, Tupolevs and Lavochkins were wrecked. Now the Henschel was free and busted tanks in the dozends, which was a great relief for the southern VH. And the ground-conditions had turned to 'fair', so I could also attack the middle from the north. The southern auxes could close in on their initial VH, found it more or less undefended and retook it with Luftwaffe-support.

The Fallschirms moved to the VH's in the middle. The more northern one was retaken by my tk (I think the Brandenburgers are still flying around in the area), the other one was conquered after a suicidal (aux-)cavalry-attack by dropping a para in. The initial Russian VH was taken easily by my attacking inf. A last russian attempt was expected, but while I waited for it the scen ended with a BV and a Me-262 as proto.

Expected the AI as defensive - and was right. So aty at the front looked for targets, and the two recons delivered. Some aty, some inf, some AT. Tried to kill or at least cripple as much as possible. After the barrage my armor rolled in, but were by far not as successfull as I had hoped. Luftwaffe could do some more damage, but a lot AT and entrenched inf remained unscathed. At least, a minor counter was weathered due to aty-support.

Sent a small detachement south, through wood and swamp. They could take their objectives at the western edge around GT 5. The defenses in the northern town were soon ran over, but I faced rather high losses of sp on my inf. From GT 2 on the weather was snowy, and the Luftwaffe was limited to reconaissance. Most VH are around a town in the east, one is far in the south. Thus I sent some aty, the Tiger II and the weakened inf south. Most armour went due east, some north and some south of the river.

The task in the south was not too hard. Had two parachuters there, which took two aty behind the VH out. In snowy weather I sent my Tiger II straight into an IS-1, but it took not too much damage. Then the weathered cleared, and the VH fell in no time. Luftwaffe was needed in the east, as suddenly Russian armour poured out of the woods. Some aty got crippled, and my leaderd recon went down to 2sp. Despite numerous counterfiring aty my iron zoo took the ISU, IS und SU out, so the aty could get close to the VHs. On the last GT the ground conditions changed to 'mud', which left some flags out ouf reach. But the last VH could be taken by my Liberator. Yet another ftr-proto was granted, getting the score up two four protos out of the last five scens. Out of hands!

Snowy wather on the first 2 GT, Luftwaffe was again used in spotting missions. Together with the recons they revealed some units along my deployment-zone. They were proven to be cannon-fodder. A group with two tk, two aty, a recon and some inf went due east. The paras were sent into the same direction. Most of my units went to the south, over numerous rivers and swamps. On GT 3 the weather cleared, and the Russian airforce showed up. The effect on my troopies was minimal.

The way in the north was empty until my group arrived along some hills. The paras had reached the VH and found it crowded with enemy armour, but aty was not present. In the hills some AT were detected. The road to the south was also free from enemies. Only the Luftwaffe had action and downed the russian airforce. Then the weather changed to rain, and the ground became knee-deep mud. This of course slowed my advance down, to almost zero for the aty. Luftwaffe moved in strength up over this VH, and the V-2 started to inflict some damage.

I dropped the paras in the east and attacked the defending inf (in fact it's a fortification). The weather got better, my two tk and the inf took the AT on, trying to catch the attention of the AI and call the Russian tk away from the VH. This was not that big a success - when my paras moved they were 'surprised' by a overwatch-tk which had previosly not been detected. To my great relief the paras survived. Then the Brandenburger blew the inf to pieces and the MG-unit moved in. In the south I found most of my units suddenly blocked be a load of T-34. Only the recon and one Panther had the chance to reach the VH. Together they dislodged the defenders and the Liberator moved in for a LTBV.

2 pt OS on the V-2

Before the scen I thought: core losses as predicted in the intro? Jan, are you kidding? Well, let's go through from the north to the south.

Starting from the northwest a couple of inf, small aty and a SPAD went towards an airport. It was defended by inf, an AT and an AD. The inf descended to the west in a snowy turn, next GT the sky cleared and some TB came by for a visit. My SPAD welcomed them, but still my attackers took some damage. Nevertheless I took the airport on GT 5. The allied TB got downed by fine products of Prof. Messerschmitt.

The northeastern VH was the target for my parachooters. They reached it also on GT 5, found a nice aty, chose it as first target and took it out. Afterwards they struggled against quite some strong inf. Two planes and a V-2 scrambled in, and the VH was secured only on GT 10.

The bulk of my core, also starting in the northwest, headed for the town in the middle and reached the river west of it already on GT 2. The weather has been snow and now changed to a mixture of snow and overcast, so there sometimes was fighting in the air, and sometimes I could spy the defenses of the town out. This enabled the V-2 to kill the biggest atys, and the AI had some good AD-shots on my warbirds. In return my SPAD also took some sp from the allied airforce. On GT 4 I tried to attack the town, but a vast load of Russian armour threw me back. Two of my best units limped home at 2 str. A Russian counter could be contained, it cost the AI most of the mobile units. As the ground-condition turned to mud on GT 7 I attacked again, this time with more aty-support and more success. The town was mine on GT 9.

Had a quite large group in the south, but with my weakest units except for the RM-Panther. They went straight east. First units were some hexes away from the VH on GT 5 and waited for aty and inf to close up. Out of the blue my advanced units were attacked by some M26 on steroids, a SPAT and an armoured recon. A big aty also sent some greetings. Had to refit the Panther and retreated everything. Then the ground-conditions turned from frozen to mud, and the allied withdrew - they could have beaten me within the next two GT! The bad ground-conditions left me with about zero chance to reach the VH in BV-time, and nothing from the town would be able to get down there. I sent the Luftwaffe in, it suffered severe losses to a Flak as it attacked everything in sight. In the end the V-2 saved the day by deleting two aty and shaking the VH-defenders. The RM-Panther, which amazingly could reach the VH due to its special ability, threw them out after severeal air-raids and another precise shot from the V-2. Moved in for a lucky LTBV.

Yes, core-losses are likely here. Swedes are not kidding!

Another point of OS on the V-2.

Placed my best aty, the Grille-SPAD, my best tk, CS-tk and the leadered recon on land. Some other good units should perform a landing on the next shore. And the paras were of course in the sky. First GT was a catastrophy for the defenders. They took major losses on the units northeast of the deployment-zone. The AI sent some ftr and TB, most took severe damage from precise shots of the Grille. Only my Me-410 got crippled - I just had forgotten to guard it.

Second GT started with a complete loss of japanese airforce, then a lot of my units climbed out of their landing crafts, and what was already ashore moved southeast towards the VH. After some initial tacklings with the japanese navy the seas became calm. I just refused to use the Kriegsmarine, and the IJN also did nothing. Some defenders were detected while they moved southeast, they fell victim to tk-attacks. The first coastal VH was conquered after aty-shots by an inf-attack, and the bulk of my armour poured through the gap and right between the three decisive VHs. Now the weather changed from fair to rain, and it kept raining for the remainder of the scen.

There was some aty which sent nice greetings, and an AT which tried to attack a tk, and some suicidal inf-attacks. The japanese performance didn't impress my core. On GT 5 I overran the VH in the middle and the paras took a VH a bit north. Counterfiring aty was immediately deleted by my big guns. This way I closed the ring around the harbour. Now the IJN gave some support to the army, but it wasn't sufficient. On GT 6 my Liberator liberated both VH in the town, and the scen was done.


Singapore

Did nothing @ HQ - even forgot to put another point of OS on the V-2.

Seeing the setup, the plan was clear: take the northern harbour-VH and deploy from there. Thus I massed my big aty on the other side of the water and backed them up by CS-units. On the first GT I moved the paras above the VH while the aty deleted all visible aty and AD. The Engineers moved over the water south of the causeway to blow a bunker and catch the attention of the AI. As a counter the AI took one of my harbour-hexes with a DD and moved wildly around, trying to get more units to the north.

I didn't mind, blew everything away with aty on the next GT and took the harbour by dropping a para in. But - the hex was blown, and I couldn't deploy anything! Bought a sub and tried to get rid of the DD in the harbour. Poked a hole into the defenses along the coast, and moved my armour over the causeway. More units, mostly inf, but also a Panther, a SPAD and an aty, made amhipic landings through the gap the Engineers had secured. In return the AI nearly killed my Me-410, which I once again left unguarded. The paras on the VH had to retreat at 2sp after a fierce counter.

Then the Panthers steamrolled over the northern airport and cleared the area once and for all. The DD got finally sunk. After some aty-shots the new StuH drove the defending inf out of 'my' harbour and retook it. The weather had turned to rain, and I hurried to get everything on the island. In the east all the amphibic units moved south. Faced quite some resisting and counterattacking inf in that area. Paras got refitted and later walked to the airport and retook to the sky, while the Brandenburgers were already hovering above the VH in the south. The para-MG spied the defenses around the british VH in the far east out. Raced towards the VHs at full throttle - and then the ground-condition changed to 'mud'.

This of course hampered my advance. Still my units reached the town on the next GT. The V-2 had already reduced the number of defending aty, and my aty broke the neck of the resisting inf. Now the IJN interfered, pointing themselves out to my subs. Sunk the Yamato. In the town the ground-condition didn't matter. Thus I had everything in position to attack and kill the VH-defending fort on the southernmost VH on BV-1. Brandenburger dropped in. Recons and the Hetzer took the harbour a tad west of the town. Changi, the last VH, was in reach of a quiet strong task-force with Panthers, JagdPanthers, two inf and two aty. Once again it was the V-2 that finally cleared the VH. Here the FJ-MG were dropped in, ending the scen with a LTBV.

The V-2 and the 17K18 started at 15str, the Tiger II at 12 str.

It's a long long way to Tipperary, and the way around the mountains may be as long. As usual the paras moved to the northeast, arrived there at GT 3. V-2 depleted the aty on the VH, another fresh bought aty was killed, and the VH was mine. Most other defenders were crippled from strafing raids and done after the next GT.

On the way around the mountains my core found not too much resistance. While moving southwest I sent a little pincer to a VH at a lake. Defenders were shot to pieces by my aty, the remnants were mopped up by Hetzer, StuH and a couple of inf. There was also some Swiss airforce with outdated ftr, but it was gone by GT 5. Until then it had been fantastic weather, I should consider the area for my next holiday trip.

Then it started to rain, just the right time to reammo my planes. Had minor problems with the defenders of the southernmost VHs, and when they were solved, the ground changed to mud. My paras had been refitted and slowly moved south, but they met an overwhelming mass of defending inf. They retreated a bit, but were under constant attack on their way back. The V-2 killed AD and, with my Luftwaffe as eye in the sky, the aty around the VH.

When I had taken the southeastern VH, weather and ground-conditions again changed. My armour, recon and the big gun could race north towards the last VH. The Luftwaffe strafed the defenders at wish, the V-2 scored some more kills (9 kills in this scen!), and the Me-410 erased the last Swiss inf for a BV-3.
