Map Bug report... (1495/1496/50023/50024)
No idea where to put this, but in the Moscow maps 1495/1496 (summer/winter) and their XXL counterparts 50023/50024 (summer/winter), a 2-hex airfield in the SW of Moscow is erroneously set as "Forest".
It is named "Aeroport Yermolino" though, and is surrounded by "Clear" hexes, so it's clearly just a bad click while setting the hex type.
The same problem appears in all 4 mapx files (1495/1496/50023/50024).

Re: Map Bug report... (1495/1496/50023/50024)
Yes - you are right - this is a bug --> there should be an airport on all four maps
I always check several times ... Sorry for the mistake
On winter maps, terrain is used - custom(snow)
Re: Map Bug report... (1495/1496/50023/50024)
There are mapx bugs on many maps. I too created some bugs
But it can be repaired in the scenario anyway, so it's not a big deal

Sure, it can be repaired quite easily, but you have to detect it first! The issue here is that it looks like an airport, it talks like an airport, but unless at some point you start wondering why your planes drop out of the sky lacking fuel, you'll never detect is isn't actually an airport, but just a strange-looking grove! It's a dangerous bug, given airports have special and unique functions.
I've used those Moscow maps in several campaigns, and only now I discovered the problem, only because this time I was trying to embark units into air transport and failed.

The best way to detect this type of issues is switching to tiled maps, as it shows really what terrain is each hexnone wrote: ↑2023-08-17 07:00, ThursdaySure, it can be repaired quite easily, but you have to detect it first! Re: Map Bug report... (1495/1496/50023/50024)
Thanks, but usually I spot errors while setting up the map:
When making a new scenario, I load the campaign-specific template scenario (is empty, but everything more or less already set up), load the right map, then go to the "Map Settings" view, and use "Scenario/Savegame/Map View Specific Options/Import Map File" to load the fitting map definition.
After this I switch on the grid, use the "Terrain Filter" to highlight all town/port/airport hexes, and copy-paste the fitting ownership flags onto them. It's the best way (I found) to not miss any (and not spend an eternity either).
At this point I usually spot when something looks/is wrong (for instance when a hex which optically is rather "town" or "clear", is marked as something else).
Well, except in huge maps, where I'm liable to miss things as I scroll around...
That was the case here: It looked like an airport, had an airport name, and that was evidence enough for me to consider it is an airport. I pasted an ownership flag on it, even made it a VH, and off you go...

@Luis - can I request a file swap?
I checked it several times..
when making a summer map
while making a winter map - I was changing the terrain for snow
when moving to XXL maps - conversion to tile maps

I replaced these files into MapFinder, but the file 50023_moscow_big.mapx (178.448 bytes) is truncated to 163.840 bytes when uploadingsympatyk wrote: ↑2023-08-17 11:30, ThursdayCorrected/Changed mapx files for download

which is the size of the former version of these mapx
I tried several times to upload but always get the same size.
Could you check this file, as it looks strange why now is bigger than before ?

IIRC there was a limitation at Gilestiel's, which is why the XXL maps (500xx numbers) are hosted here, on this site. Could be wrong though.

Yes, but some are missing. One of mine and several maps by sympatyk. I don't know if you have them already @none?none wrote: ↑2023-08-17 17:10, ThursdayIIRC there was a limitation at Gilestiel's, which is why the XXL maps (500xx numbers) are hosted here, on this site. Could be wrong though.

Yes, it's weird.. but it is
For both maps - 50023 and 50024 the same thing is observed --> after changing terrain only on these two hexes (airport) - file size increases
I recorded how I do it
https://drive.google.com/file/d/15CSUxQ ... sp=sharing
I don't want to upload/swap - maybe the zip is to blame
I am sending 50023_moscow_big.mapx myself

Re: Map Bug report... (1495/1496/50023/50024)
That's only natural, no? The less clear hex a mapx file has, the bigger the file size. So if you change 2 hex from clear to something else, the file size will be bigger. You can test it by changing more clear hex to other terrain and the file size will increase even further.sympatyk wrote: ↑2023-08-17 18:07, Thursday

Re: Map Bug report... (1495/1496/50023/50024)
That's not the problem, the problem is that this mapx file cannot be uploaded regardless how I try; connection is always broken and upload fails
Regarding size it is ok, because mapx files only store those hexes having some data, so if any hex was clear (terrain == 0) was not included in the .mapx but if now it is not clear that hex is added and file size increases.
This one neither loads into Mapfinder, sorryI don't want to upload/swap - maybe the zip is to blame

Re: Map Bug report... (1495/1496/50023/50024)
@ Luis
All .mapx files from that time (four years ago) - when loaded into Suite and saved under a new name, they will be larger (load, do nothing, save as)--> application Suite has changed --> saves in a different way, more information, etc...
Change 2 hex - forest to airport vs 10000 hex on the map - this is a disproportionate change in file size ....
I think this needs to be changed...
