I broke it!

Post by Starbuck » 2020-01-30 14:00, Thursday

I'm having a hard time running Open General. I recently connected my laptop to a second, larger monitor to see if it made a difference when playing OG. I've had difficulty changing the screen resolution and the icons are too small for me to comfortably see. The monitor downloaded its drivers and the second screen came on. When I launched OG, it crashed, and has done so ever since, including a recent download and reinstall. :thud

The game will start, but the opening video doesn't play; the game crashes. The error messages I get are first "DShow error running video file" After that a windows dialog box pops up stating "OpenGeneral using SDL2 (D3D) compatible XP is not responding." It then offers me the option of closing the program or waiting for it to respond.

Does anyone have any suggestions? :dunno (Plaintive cry for help).

It's Windows 8.1. Everything worked fine until I tried to hook up the extra monitor.

Try to rename the starting video (that will skip playing it) to check if this is the only issue.
