well Brest Litowsk was easy too. Wondered what equipment to buy at the beginning. No planes because the german Lw had enough and the russian had none.
So i decided for an expensive gun. 10.5 K18 with SdKfz 7 and nearly all of my 800 pts. were gone.

:howdy Image: I don't think that's a good idea. You have to pay attention to the prestige cap and first upgrade your (*) units to the best possible. You won't win a flowerpot with the Panzer II and the bomber has too little fuel - but is only a hint, you have to spoon out the soup yourself.

Still easy to achieve a BV. The russian AD does not really hurt and hurrah attacks of the german not core infantery clears the way.
Got a SIG33 prototype and will now buy a Pz IIIG. That should work in Bobruysk.

Wonder when I will be able to buy Paras which I love to use for conquering distant airfields.

Und als fröhlich weiter mit meiner Hightech-Truppe. Noch ein Proto. Ist zwar nur ne schäbige 7,6 cm Pak 38, aber immerhin. Dafür hat meine Ju 87B jetzt combat support mit 4 Balken. Das ist einn Pfund :)

Smolensk hatte ich zunächst ganz klassisch frontal attackiert, ging auch ganz gut. Aber meine Lw hatte Nachschubprobleme. Und als dann meine schöne combatsupport Ju auf dem östlichen Flugplatz vom Himmel fiel, weil ich ihn einen Zug zu spät eroberte, habe ich das HQ mit einer kompletten Neuplanung beauftragt. Der Kommandeur der Kerntruppe erhielt mit allen Kerneinheiten incl. gesamte Lw ( wichtig dabei17cm K18 mit Fieseler Storch als Aufklärer, um die russische AA und Artillerie aus der Ferne niederzukämpfen. Den Rest erledigte dann die Lw) und ein paar Hilfstruppen den Auftrag in einem großen Sichelschnitt ganz im Norden rasch durchzustoßen, dann nach Süden zu schwenken und umgehend den östlichen Flugplatz zu nehmen. Dabei konnte dort auch die russische Lw überrascht und vernichtet werden.Von dort konnte dann die Lw die rückwärtigen SH attckieren und die russischen Truppen dort binden. Der Vormarsch der übrigen Einheiten auf Smolensk war dadurch zunächst ohne Lw-Unterstüzung etwas zäh, weil die russischen Tanks doch störten. Aber als die Lw auch den Angriff auf Smolensk vom Osten aus unterstützte war der Widerstand schnell gebrochen.

I first attacked Smolensk in a classic way frontally, went pretty well. But my airforce had supply problems. And when my powerful combat support Ju fell from sky at the eastward airfield, because I conquered it one move late, I ordered a completly new battleplan from HQ. The Commander of coreunits was ordered to start a sickle cut in the north with all coreunits including all airforce and some supporting troops ( important 17cm K18 with reconnaissance by Fieseler Storch to eliminate russian AA and artillery with airforce doing the rest). He then had to head down south as fast as possble to conquer the eastward airfield.He succeeded to surprise the russian airfoce there and to eliminate it. Then he could attack the eastward VH from there and prevented the russian units to support Smolensk. The attack of the remaining units in the west towards Smolensk was a bit tedious without airsupport because the russian tanks did a good job but when the airforce supported the attack on Smolensk from the east the job was done quickly.

Roslavl ohne Probleme. Man musste aufpassen, das östlichste SH genügend zu verteidigen, weil die Russen dort ihren Gegenangriff konzentrierten.

no problems if you were aware to defend th most eastward VH after conquering because the russians concentrated their counterattack there.

The strategy was easy, two attack wedges, one in the east and one in the west heading for the two russian VH. Tactic was a bit mor tricky because you had to handle the russian attacks onto the flanks and on the northern german VH and airfield.

Habe mir einmal Bpio gekauft und den wenig nützlichen Nebelwerfer Proto ( Reichweite 2, Bewegung 0) zur15cm sFH aufgerüstet. Dann ganz einfach im Norden mit den gekauften Bpios übergesetzt und das SH genommen. Im Süden war das einzige Problem, dass meine Lw nachladen musste bevor sie meine Truppen nach Übersetzen im Süden bei der Eroberung des südlichsten SH unterstützen konnte. Die combat support Ju mit 5 bars ist ne unschlagbare Wucht, ergänzt durch Zwischenangriffe mit dem Fieseler Storch machen die neben ihr attackierenden Bomber alles!!!! nieder.

Bought briding engineers and upgraded the nearly useless Nebelwerfer Proto ( range 2, movement 0 ) to 15cmSFH. Then used the buoght bridging engineers to cross the river in the north and take the VH there. In the south the only problem has been that my airforce had to refuel before they could assist my troops in conquering the outmost south VH. The combat support Ju is unbeatble. In cooperation with the Fieseler Storch the bombers attacking close to it beat everything!!!
